This is a great little fic and I wish they’d addressed John using himself as Harold’s human shield on the show. You wrote it in just the right tone, perfect for Rinchers or for those of us who just see them as close friends bonded by hardship and heartache. Thanks for sharing.

I'm not a Rinch shipper, however your nicely crafted summary intrigued me, so I read your story nonetheless. You have a truly awesome writing style and the story could be taken in the context of two very close friends, if you were in anyway squeamish regarding same sex couples, which I'm not; I just see these two differently. Ive been reading a lot of CaReese shipper stuff lately and half the time I'm not entirely convinced about them either! Maybe its all in the quality of the writing?
