The way you explain and understand magic in this fic is one of the best I've ever encountered. Plus the memories are incredible.

As a massive Haphne fan I'm not sure how I had never found this fic before. Maybe because they aren't a pairing in the fic listings? I've really enjoyed it even if I have skipped a morning's worth of work and that will inevitably bit me in the backside soon! I like your Dumbledore and especially your dorm-mate interactions.

Not sure about the point of a Hannah Abbott infatuation when she's a bit of an outsider already? Also think Harry and Daphne's relationship is going a bit slowly for 16 year olds but that's not a big problem. Hope Harry's prophetic dreams don't come true...

I take some perverse pleasure in Hermione being very interested in Harry, but Harry doesn't notice at all because he's falling in love with Daphne. Daphne is a much more interesting girl, but aside from that I think it's a hard but important lesson to Hermione that she shouldn't take things for granted and also she should probably be less controlling. In a previous chapter, Harry's thoughts of her defining features included how annoying she could be. That's probably something she should work on, in the event that she finds another guy to pursue.

Unless you go the "Harry is with Daphne AND Hermione and they both marry him and somehow everything works out" route. Which I wouldn't really recommend in this story, given that the whole point is the romance between Harry and Daphne. Weird, philosophical magic shit aside.

I like that Harry is very into runes. I'm getting some vibes that this entire outing about Gryffindor's past was really just setup to get Harry more in the mindset to be willing to forgive and work with Draco. Which would be kind of lame. It's way too interesting and impactful just to be boiled down to "come on, Harry, he's a good guy now. Just ignore that he's only a "good guy" because he's being motivated by fear and self-interest. It totally still counts."

Anyway, I like Daphne. Dislike Hermione for the most part. Ron and the other boys are fairly interesting. I like the DnD stuff. I don't really like all the weird prophetic shit that Harry keeps dreaming/seeing. That kind of thing is always annoying. I mean, are we actually going to get a scene where Daphne and Harry strip naked to do some sketchy ritual, or was that meant to be metaphorical or just an alternate timeline possibility? I really hate seers and prophecy for crap like that.

I also don't particularly like Blaise or Tracey so far. Tracey mostly because she's just sort of irritating. Blaise because of the cliche "he's a Slytherin so he's constantly planning and plotting and super clever" thing you tried with him earlier in the story.

As for the writing itself, I think my biggest issue is typos. They're very consistent in how often you make the same mistake. For example, you very often use the word "on" when the word "in" makes much more sense given the context.

Hermione's behavior is truly disgusting. I mean, does she really think she's entitled to know all of Harry's secrets and personal thoughts? It's not like she goes around updating Harry and Ron about every little thing that goes through her mind, all of her secret and personal thoughts and desires. She would never do that, but the moment that she thinks Harry is hiding /anything/, even a little crush on someone (something that is absolutely none of her fucking business), she loses her shit and berates him as if he did something wrong. It's super controlling behavior and isn't something real friends do.

I mean, I can't even tell if this is on point or not for her character, because all of HBP was basically "Hermione is a massive, overreacting cunt who refuses to hear any opinion except her own because The Great Holy Hermione is never wrong." and I hated her in it for certain.

Daphne and Harry's slow relationship goes at just the right pace for me. It is a bit weird how they're still denying that they're bf/gf though, but I guess that might just be a teenager thing.

Only smallish criticism I've got is that you spend a bit too much time on some side stuff sometimes. Like the DnD session in the previous chapter, or some of the magic memories.

Went into this story expecting another fluff of Haphne. I instead came out wishing that the canon story went for this approach instead. Spelling and grammatical errors aside (seriously, you should fix these or get a Beta to correct), this story of yours brings new perspectives and interesting ideas to the table. Looking forward to reading more!

That was an intriguing concept with Salazar and Godric. I have seen many, many possible interpretations and theories, and while I have enjoyed some more than others, this one is also intriguing so far. Was it merely for the correlation between Salazar atoning and Malfoy attemption to do so, or will Salazar/Godric thing be explored more?

Also, why did Daphne only send the one letter to Harry, and so late?
