This was an interesting start. I'm not normally a fan of AU fics or fics where Shepard gets stripped of her N7 ranking and made into an ordinary person but I really enjoyed reading this. It was cute how protective Kaidan was even after all those years, and I liked that Shepard was a little more jaded and cranky at the world. It seems to suit her.
