Interesting story, first I’ve read for this fandom. I liked Astrid realising how cool Hiccup is in his own special way, and loved how you wrote the rest of the gang, the twins especially were hilarious. Thanks for sharing

This story is simply amazing and creative! I have read countless versions of hiccstrid arranged marriage in httyd 1, but this is my favourite! both of them are in character, snotlout isn't an asshole, the reason behind their wedding makes so much sense!
I would simply live to see you expand this in a sequel set in httyd 2!

The Ruffnut portion of this chapter had me laughing until I cried and the spots behind my ears were hurting. Hilarious! And perfectly in character! Loved it!

I've read this story before, and then out of the blue I remembered it existed and decided I wanted to read it and I've been searching for WEEKS for this damn thing! (admittedly I was reading other stuff I found on the side but hey wouldn't you?)
No wonder I couldn't find it though - when sorted by reviews, with incomplete stories filtered out, this story is on PAGE 16 of the how to train your dragon story results 1

I wasn't exactly sure what I was getting into when I picked this up, but I love love LOVe arranged marriage AUs. This was one of the best ones I've seen!

They were never 12/13
They were 15, idk what made u think they were so young. And even at 12/13 people got married at that age in the Viking era

I really enjoyed this! You made a very original story out of the arranged marriage trope. Your character development was very beautiful as well.

A bit short, but certainly effective, I’ll give you that.
If nothing else, you clearly did your research into Viking culture, coming up with some fascinating ideas about how what we saw of Berk fits into what we know of Viking life, and your personal developments are exceptionally well-written, ranging from Hiccup’s passionate speech in the hall and Astrid’s reaction to Toothless’s own responses to everything that’s happening to him (I agree that he’s more than just an animal, but I’m always ambiguous about stories that portray the dragons as actually being capable of some form of speech). Astrid’s growing sense of sympathy for Toothless is also handled well, further developing her understanding that the dragons aren’t the monsters she’s always believed rather than forcing her to dive in on comparatively little evidence, and her scene with Hiccup as he confessed was a perfect way to reinforce their new emotional bond as he admits his deeper feelings to someone who’s actually listening while she finds someone who genuinely admires her for her own sake rather than as what she represents in her year.
The part with Toothless’s capture and the aftermath felt a bit forced- I would have liked to see some changes in the aftermath, since Stoick was now facing not only Hiccup but also Astrid telling him that he’s misinterpreted the situation- and it could have been interesting to see more of the teens bonding with their chosen dragons even if I appreciate that the final confrontation wouldn’t have changed, but at least the aftermath was very well-written, as Astrid starts to accept her deeper feelings for Hiccup beyond what they were ‘forced’ into by circumstance.
I have to admit, I wouldn’t say ‘no’ to seeing how things go if you decide to write a sequel…

It would be cool to own your own dragon. If I could have any dragon in the HTTYD universe, I'd choose a dark blue Night Fury and name her Midnight, or Glisten, one of my dragons on School of Dragons, or SoD for short. That being said, I'd rename her Shimmer.
