Been meaning to review this for weeks, never got around to it. Impressive all round, you have a good handle on the characters, (including respect for Steiner's combat abilities, which is rarer than it should be), and you're striking a good balance between veering off script and allowing yourself to expand on aspects of the storyline. Well done.

lovely. i adore the details you've added! on the other hand, this might be canonical and i do apologize, i don't think i have ever finished the game when i was 12 or my memory might have failed but i do love how you described marcus' enhanced hearing! (and it did strike me as off too, considering his ears and his overall physical attributes, i didn't expect him to be listed off as human but that was interesting on its own, and its great that you took that into consideration!)

dagger is as curious as she is in the game and that's just lovely okay, and i love that she's flirting (?) in a way! perhaps she's just being charming but i have a feeling that marcus is tempted anyways but being the experienced, cautious guy he is, he'd most likely realize that it would be difficult for anything to go anywhere. and yet! i am so so excited for things to progress, hopefully towards some place marcus never expected haha

i am so happy steiner is acknowledging marcus' competence! get along, boys, you're going to be stuck together a while anyways. marcus and dagger teasing steiner together has also been a scenario i always daydreamed about and you made it come to life! i am extremely happy. thank you for this so far!

its the morning and its me, again! i am definitely leaving a review for each chapter. i love this so much to not do that. (i love the chemistry between garnet and marcus, love how you show it, and i love that you write steiner interacting with them just as much because to be honest, i'm just so into the idea of the three of them getting along and solving their issues with each other (and god, yes, steiner and garnet have a lot of those) along the way)

there's an atmosphere to this fic that honestly fits their entire arc in the game! i love it. its like theres potential everywhere but everyone's focused on their missions and their troubles, so there's no time to address those. and yet, it shows sometimes, when they interact. i love how marcus notices things about the two royals. and it means SO MUCH that you added the last two lines aaaaaa. i think that steiner would never stop being wary of marcus (its just in his nature, the poor misinformed dude) but marcus is no zidane. well, he's definitely not as flirtatious, at least. i dont know, i like zidane, but i'd prefer travelling with marcus anyday. (i might also be quite biased)

marcus is warming up so easily to garnet; and i couldnt ever blame him, garnets like a ray of sunshine; and steiner is giving him the evil eye. but i do love how in-character youve written them. the dialogue is stellar. and reading this from marcus' point of view is such a pleasure, we don't get much of that in the game so this is a treat! fffmdh okay onwards to the third chapter

oh my god. oh my god. first, i should inform you that i have only just read the very first chapter as it is 5 in the morning and i haven't slept, and i also feel like i should savor the other two chapters and read them slowly and thoroughly. second, this review may be a little long. i apologize. (and forget the one review you had on this fic, i LOVED that garnet, steiner and marcus went on a trip together.)

i just started replaying ff9 after 8 years, and of course, i'm noticing new aspects about the characters and how they work with each other. and i fell in love with the idea of these three trying to work together so fast, i didn't even see it coming. i honestly forgot about them leaving for treno together. naturally, after realizing their potential, i went searching for fic. and then i found this lovely gem. and you updated this 15 days ago. that is almost too good to be true. i am so happy i feel like i can implode from joy.

and you are an AMAZING writer. god. are you kidding me, (ive only read the first chapter) but already you've addressed that marcus' manner of speech was different than the stereotypical thief, your analogies are gorgeous, and i am so fascinated by your characterization. i'm just. in love with this fic already, and i do hope that it isn't abandoned. but even if it is? thank you for putting these three chapters online. i needed it. i needed to know that someone saw what i saw in the game.

I really don't like this part of the game I found it to be one of the stupidest scenarios ever, it makes the intire beginning of the game pointless, makes garnet look completely stupid and responsible for a bunch of bad stuff and most of all ruins the love a bit with zidane and garnet.
