Aww, this was such a sweet story. I can definitely imagine Silver going off on his own to celebrate his birthday only to be interrupted by Lyra. She's very sweet and nice and she cares a lot for Silver, and fortunately Silver can see that here. He's also pretty sweet (and awkward) trying to say the right thing to Lyra when she starts talking about her father. I had not expected to read that, I actually got tears in my eyes and I've gotten really curious as to what happened to him. Do you have a story in which Lyra goes to find him? Or perhaps what happened to him, since if he had left of his own free will and he had wanted to come back, he would have been back by now. I really liked the contrast between Lyra's and Silver's experiences with their fathers. I was confused about one thing, though, did Lance really hurt Lyra physically? I mean, Silver thought so, but he might have been wrong... It's pretty dark, but interesting.
