There seems to more there than friendship between Leonard and Penny, the long hugs and the words they spoke to each other infer more. It seems that Penny would gladly have spent her last night with Leonard, but though he showed feelings for her, he still kept them in the friends zone up to her leaving. Since he caused them to revert back into the friends zone and seems to have kept it that way all the way until she left, even though Penny was pretty obvious about her feelings, it makes me wonder how he will act after a year of her not being around, will he get over her. Also how will Penny act if she gets the emotional attention from someone at CERN that Leonard has held from her, a year is a long time.

This was very nicely done. A marvelous construction showing a push and pull between them. Like magnets attracting then repelling then finally attracting! I loved it! So cute how you included the blanket, making it pink was a nice touch. The pain they both felt at the farewell in the hall was palpable while reading it. Each wanting to lengthen it seemingly. Continuing to hold onto each other “many Mississippi’s later” was the evidence there. The letter and the FaceTime were the perfect conclusion! Still emotional. Still them. Still perfect. Thank T/W, you for a nice gift on a late Sunday afternoon!

Thanks for the update, as usual totally worth the wait

Leonard just letting Penny in to mess with Sheldon’s stuff pretty much confirms that are comfortably back in the friends zone. However, them slow dancing at the party sort of hints that they are something more than just friends. Penny’s dream also confirms, at least subconsciously, that she wants more than a friendship with Leonard too. Actually with Penny’s thought process, in this chapter, I’m not sure how she can go to Switzerland and be happy without Leonard being hers in some way. A year is a long time I think for both of them.

Hello! So much to love about this. I took notes as I'm at work and going back and forth, but the first item that I think of is "enthusiasm". Penny's enthusiasm over L's coming audition was palatable. A nice touch there after her anger at Sheldon (and love how L helped her in getting even "...which really could work in your favor..."). Then her recollection at how much she enjoyed helping him afterwards with Bernadette. We can actually see her thought process in the pause between "my..." and "best friend and my ex-boyfriend". How does she define him? Excellent. This is followed by a throwback to times with A, B & P as she tries on the blue dress. I laughed out loud at the Spanx line. Too true!? Next reading L's self-deprecating manner fell right in with the character as we know him. Shy and unsure of himself (you get these characters so well). I can picture him working up the courage to approach her table and ask her to dance-taking a deep breath and saying "okay-dokay" before heading over there. With the dance scene they were so comfortable together, again true to this couple. That they are so involved with just being together that they didn't notice the music had changed (mobster music? lol!) was wonderful. They created their own little fog cover where everything is masked except for the person in front of them. A wonderful moment by you!

Your use of Sheldon as comic relief was fun. Karen and Amy's back and forth knowing what Sheldon does not was cute. Finally, P's dream...realistic for her and for us as readers. It took their dance scene further in her mind leading her to what she wanted to happen. The immediate "Hey" to him as she awoke was so real. How many times do we do something like that and right away regret it. All in all a great update to this work. (reading this review—sort of disjointed, but anyway….) Thanks for writing T/W. Looking forward to the continuation!

This line sort of got to me “When someone means that much to you... or has meant that much to you... you put certain things behind you, so that you can appreciate what you still have with them.” It sort of applies to Johnny and Kaley in real life as much as Leonard and Penny in this story. Anyway back to the story, I hope Penny didn’t read too much into that party, when her and Leonard danced, because she seems to want to go further, at the end of this chapter, and Leonard may not be thinking the same way.

The very idea of Penny leaving Leonard for A WHOLE YEAR makes me very sad. I mean, like you said, Leonard is oxygen, so how the heck is she going to survive the whole year without him! Maybe Leonard gets the acting job, and maybe the job just happens to be on location in Switzerland? No? If you're not going to make that happen at least let Leonard answer that text and come visit her for some of that good stuff Amy is missing out on. Just let her have that!

Well! This was so much fun! The opening was hilarious and Penny's uncomfortable meeting with Leonard in the stairwell (or is it on the stairway?) went just right! Your take on our favorites with the tiny, yet important twist of a change of occupations between L & P gives us a chance to visit past events. Enjoyed reading the interaction between Sheldon and Amy with the great assist from Penny. You caught them both (especially Sheldon) being clueless as to what many of us would consider common sense things and it came off nicely. All in all a very satisfying update. So good to be reading you again T/W. Thank you so much!

Penny buying things at the lingerie store makes me wonder again about the friends with benefits idea and if Penny is trying to set up a situation where that will be possible with Leonard. They seemed to be very comfortable with each other this chapter, their friendship seems very close and they seem to be able to be casual with each other without awkwardness, so that is at least a good thing for both of them. Amy and Sheldon’s test tube baby was funny, I actually thought you might write them going through with it but Penny again saved the day using the threat Sheldon’s mother on him, which always seems to work. I very curious what will happen between them when they are alone again, always look forward to your updates.

Just had to say great story. Smooth touch with the pairings and underwear selection scene! Been fascinated with the switches in characters with little or no changes in the characters.

Leonard was the one who put the end to their relationship but now he doesn’t seem to have no problem being Penny’s friend which makes me believe that there is still something there in him with Penny. Them going back to be close friends makes me wonder how he is going to feel when she leaves, a year is a lot longer than three months, will he yearn for her or forget her after that year, and how will she feel in a year? Since Leonard seems the popular one in this relationship I wonder if Leonard will be with someone like Priya when she returns or even her with someone like David Underhill.
