One of these days there needs to be a story titled; "My Name is d'Artagnan", in which he gets fed up with either being called or referred to as 'the boy', 'kid', 'welp', 'lad', or any other reference to is youth instead of just using his name.

I love that you can feel the men's urgency and anguish as they "thundered" upstairs, taking two steps at a time in their desperate need to see their youngest brother. As each man sits at d'Artagnan's bedside, they recount how they've shared their birthdayg together and how each time the young Gascon is injured.

When their lieutenant agrees to the first watch, the usual stoic man breaks down at the thought of losing d'Artagnan before they can celebrate his birthday. "Now Athos sat at the boy's bedside, praying for the young man to wake, proving that he once again had the tenacity to overcome his latest injury." Also loved the use of tenacity to describe the young man.

My next favorite quote leads the reader into the first man's recall of their troubled celebrations. "It was odd, Athos thought, how birthdays seemed to be more troublesome since the boy had arrived." Nothing can be simple with the young Gascon around!

Finally, when d'Artagnan begins to wake from the welcomed blanket of unconsciousness, he's aware of things around him without having to open his eyes. He notices smells, sounds and gentle touches. When he hears concern intertwined with words , he forces his eyes open to find his three brothers surrounding him. I loved that they used the endearing term lad. It's one of my favorites!

You've penned a superb hurt and comfort story with lots of brotherly love. How could you ask for more?!
