Reviews for The Silent Revolution

Nice
shadowwriter01 chapter 9 . 1/25/2015
It is really a ironic situation that Night Raid and the revolution now realize that Budou would take out the Prime Minister for them if they just did nothing, but they can not do that because they needed to halt the entire Revolution and it would just undermine morale too deeply.

On the other hand, in a twisted sense Honest is the best friend the revolution ever had. The fact that he is manipulating the current Emperor and is suspected by many to be involved in the demise of the last one gives them a legitimacy that otherwise they wouldnt possess. And that he and his corrupt supporters are oppressing and terrorizing the citizens drives more and more people into their ranks.
It comes down to the absurd situation that the revolution is actually helping Honest to stay in his position, since Budou doesnt want to move against him until it is averted. But on the other side if Budou ever had success to remove him and install a "less" corrupt leadership, the revolution would have lost much of its purpose.

Exciting!

I love the twist you've built into this! I can't wait to see where it goes!

Hopefully Tatsumi will have maintained his loyalty to Night Raid.

Gotta say ShadowWriter, you do make very astute and intersting observations. And valuable reviews for me to read;)
As for 'gory detail' - good observation, but then again we can't blame Tatsumi here - Night Raid came there for a hit, not sticking around till morning to save those people. And right there and then they were leave the scene, taking him with them, or leaving his corpse behind. Generally Night Raid are assassins, not firemen - they come to kill the target and split, not to rescue anyone in distress.

And GravenImage isn't wrong - things are about to get complicated for Tatsumi and not only him, but i won't spoilt too much;)

Very interesting insight of the inner workings of the empire.

You've set up a very realistic reformist vs. traditionalist argument within the empire.

Tatsumi's reasoning is rather naive (although you could be doing that by design) with trying to change things from within.

Izabelle's turning out to be rather manipulative, although not in a sadistic sense. I really like how you're making these characters develop!

Tatsumi's reasons for becoming close to the Jaegers are understandable. His position gives him the feeling of power and respect for the first time. On top of that, he sees an opportunity to avoid bloodshed. I'm curious to see if he will be taken advantage of by the empire for that. Although, he could be playing them in the end. I noticed the line "opening a bottle of champagne." Perhaps he is still mostly in line with Night Raid and is using his position to wreak the government from within. His interest in Budou is quite interesting. Perhaps he needs him to fight the minister and give the Revolutionary Army an opening.

Either way you slice, it sure tugs at the excitement!

The interviews here are really well done. The reactions and thought of Budou and the others were interesting to read.
By the way, a little gory detail about the manga that I realized recently. At the end of the first chapter it was to see that at least three or four of the locked up victims were still being alive.
Maybe the author had just seriously messed up here, but how the manga is written Night Raid just showed up, killed everyone who had something to do with the murders, made a few statements how horrible these people were, let Tastsumi murder Aria for being "vile aristocratic scum", get out the single guy who Tatsumi actually cared about

and then just walked away and let the remaining half-dead victims of her family still stuck inside their cages. Neither Tatsumi or his new Night Raid friends seemed to be giving so much as a thought about actually helping any of them. So there is a good chance that they had died as well before anybody found them.
So everytime I read Tatsumi bringing up the fate of his friends or how he doesnt regret killing "people like that", my thought go less into the direction here is someone who had been legimately hurt and more to self-righteous prick.

Looks like things are about to get complicated for Tatsumi.

...Interesting interview

I have starting reading stories of Akame ga Kill a short time ago. Your is one with one of the most interesting premises.
The last chapter especially leads to one question. The more I read of the original manga, the more I get the impression that the revolutionaries and Night Raid could have taken out the Prime Minister years ago if they truly wanted.
Najenda had been a general and been working directly under Esdese. I find it hard to believe that she would never had a chance to assassinate him before she had announced that she was planning to change sides. At least three other high ranked revolutionaries are former generals as well.
And then we have Chelsea, who could copy everyones appearance and had already successfully killed some high ranked officials. But none of them had ever even tried to kill Honest himself? Strange right? It is not as if the man is constantly surrounded by bodyguards, in fact he had been running around completely unprotected very often.
Your last chapter is spot on here, Night Raid and the Revolutionary Army dont want to remove the Prime Minister, the corruption and set things right, that is what Tatsumi wants, the others think the empire is long beyond hope and want to tear it all down to start anew.
Patriot-of-USA chapter 7 . 12/2/2014
Very interesting premise.

One side trying to pull Tatsumi in with promise of change from within while the other relies on his old loyalties. I hope Tatsumi doesn't fall for'its and remembers the cause of Night Raid.

Look forward to more!

I wonder what Izabelle is up to? I wonder if she's secretly working for the revolution without them knowing about it.
tombomb4592 chapter 7 . 12/2/2014
I think this is the best chapter so far. keep em comming
Patriot-of-USA chapter 6 . 12/1/2014
You created a really interesting and exciting premise! Tatsumi on the inside makes for a cool perspective. Makes me wonder how he'll try to tear up the Jaegers on the inside.

One other aspect of your story really impresses me. Your OCs are really interesting characters. Too often I've seen them done so poorly that they're usually an instant turn off. But yours seem to be really well constructed. I'm actually intrigued by them.

Look forward to seeing what you do with the story!
