I love this story so much! I was rereading it this week and also took a look at some of the reviews as well, since I was curious about what you were talking about in the author's notes. And I must say, some of these reviewers are so rude! Constructive criticism is fine and dandy when you ask for it, but if they don't like the story just click away! And know this: update when you feel like it. Don't feel guilty about making people wait, because you are doing this for free and for fun and if you feel pressured into updating quickly it won't be fun anymore!

Since I like to leave a comment about what I liked most about a story into late reviews, here's mine: I love how you write Danny's reactions and emotions. It feels like what I would do in his situation, especially if I had been treated by my friends and family like he has. While becoming a hermit in the arctic probably isn't the best for his mental health, getting away from everything for a bit probably helped him in the short term.

Alrrrrright. I am a couple of days (maybe weeks) late, but I hope you don't mind. It at least shows you what really stuck with me. Here it goes:

I found Vlad's characterization interesting in this. He is genuinely happy and better off when Danny is with him. Yet, he is still a manipulative jerk and a control freak. His bad qualities are portrayed pretty well, without him just being an evil villain with no nuance. His character is really dynamic, and that's cool.

Sam and Tucker. Eurgh. Strangely enough, this is what simutaneously turned me off the story and made me keep reading. I didn't feel like it was... right, like it was something that they would really do, which is what initially turned me off. The /way/ you stated their rejection and how they talked and how that impacted Danny, however, struck me as remarkably realistic, in a way that exagerration can lend to the truth better than a word-for-word play of reality, and then kept me reading.

It's a cool concept. An illusion can be more truthful than a straight telling, because it is better understood.

Anyhow. Their denial, anger, and rejection of Danny struck a cord with me. It reminded me of one of my own experiences, and because of that, I thought I could find something of value in this story. So I kept reading.

With Val's apology, then it became evident that you really weren't portraying a 1D story where everyone suddenly gets mad at Danny and makes him all alone. Things certainly seemed to be going in that direction, but all the characters were still human and themselves even as they distanced themselves. I think that's when I started suspecting there was something else going on.

Also - Valerie is a champ. She didn't do too great, but I think she really did the best out of all the manipulated people, especially considering that she is very easy to set off. I really liked that she recognized her own propensity for anger.

Robin, of course, is also Very Cool. He did mess up a bit, but he still makes and earnest comeback and knows whats up. He's got a good head on his shoulders... and I hope that he, the team, and Danny from here on will become best buds. Because I am a sucker for happy endings.

But jeez, Danny's head is probably messed up enough that it will take a looong time. Poor guy.

One other note, on the writing end of things. You have really evocative imagery and a clear writing style. I still remember Danny crunching leaves as he walked down the sidewalk... I think that was when he was going to the field to meet Bella the first time.

Alas, this review ended up being more list-like than it would be if I had written it in the midst of fiery post-reading passion. Still, I hope that you enjoy reading through it and that my sincere admiration and enjoyment of this story comes off clearly! And I really hope you continue. This story somehow hits me in the gut, and I want more of it. And to see of what will come of all these poor children. Teenagers. Ehm.

Agh this is getting so tense I'm so nervous for Danny even though I'm rereading...

Bruh I'm like... well, one, Vlad you creep, two finally Bruce and Dick show up, I love my guy Dick Grayson, three I remember the AN about Halloween and Christmas and am biting my lip waiting for everything to hit the fan in less than two days in-story.

This was reeeeaally good. I spent a little too much time reading this, and kinda have to wake up early tomorrow, but I'll leave a longer review tomorrow. There were a lot of things that I liked about this story.

Ah, man... Even Dick just wants something from Danny. At least he has enough sense and heart to really be a friend and not just use him then toss him away. And seriously be peeved at the other kids for the way they talk (at least I hope he was). But if Danny finds out about him being a "target", that'll seriously hurt him, and he's already had far too many hurts.

Wow. This story is fucking amazing, your writing is fucking amazing and the plot is fucking amazing. Congrats to you and Night on this story which I am SO obsessed with. ;-)

This is a really well written story! I am surprised by how much I like it since I normally don't like angst stories but the way you write it makes it great! Keep up the great work!
