Oh. Poor Jim. This makes me think of all the people who have burned down their homes in an effort to get rid of a spider. I can understand; I'm not exactly afraid of them but I'm far from fond of them. Let's just say we have an understanding. They stay out of my bedroom, they stay alive. I would have thought that Jim would have been smarter than to wear a working phaser as a costume piece but eh. I'm glad no one was hurt, and maybe someday they'll get to laugh about it.

great story. -he just kept shooting. i thought it was an enemy! or a crazed crewmember. lol the captain shooting at a mechanical spider! poor crew. poor captain. Ron weasely's descendant should've been that crying ensign!
