I know heaps of people have asked you, but I was wondering if you could give the title of the book you referenced in chapter one, as well as any other good novels of that genre. A pretty good chapter, overall... but 'cowboy Olympics'? That is normally called a rodeo (at least it is anywhere in the western hemisphere), and 'a minute' is a pretty long time for calf-roping, definitely not a top time.

Still a little fast and loose with the characterizations, but Fish and 'Tommy' are mostly spot on. Not sure who some of the other adults are supposed to be or if they're original characters like the kids.

Also, putting the fear of God and Army Rangers in a piece of human-shaped scum is awesome even just as a summary.

This chapter was good, but it felt like you over-hyped the overprotectiveness of Astrid’s Aunt and Uncle. I know the she told them about Hiccup, but I expected at least one of them to be a little tough on him. If not to test him, then to give him a hard time for a good laugh later on (sort of like you did in the end with the Uncle paying Ethan a little visit with some friends). Still like the story, I’m just waiting for what new obstacles awaits, you know?
