And the second chapter was filled with joy & tiaras & wands & dresses and Ice cream. Oh, yeah, Gail made a mess and fell asleep in the car. Sounds typical for Gail Peck, right? I hope the author will find some time in her very busy schedule to continue this charming story. Thank you for taking the time to write it for us.

Something made me come back to re-read this ;) and I am glad I did. How heartwarming is it for Gail to not win Marty the prize but be his competion? And the carni worker giving Marty a hard time about the color of the dragon. Doesn't matter what color, it's a dragon. I think what is truely great about the story is how much we empathize with Holly and Marty. Plus I can picture a smaller version of those brown eyes and that lopsided grin. How could we not fall in love with a mini Holly? Gender is so neutral at that age anyway and to try and force gender on a child is appalling. Such a sweet moment when Marty got his dragon almost spoiled by an inconsiderate game operator and Gail knowing not to make a big fuss yet allow her badge to "enlighten" the man.

Love this because I hardly (if ever) read stories in the POV of such an accepting parent without all the unnecessary gender biases that govern most parenting styles. Love the positivity, with a dose of reality. With Holly was my Mom.

you're trying to kill me...every chapter just gets more and more adorable and I'm melted into a big sappy puddle (which is totally not my style...im hardcore, like Gail lol). I both want more of this adorable overload and yet at the same time, I don't know if I can handle it lol. but I'm glad nobody was mean to Marty, he's adorable and I'm glad he has Holly and Gail looking out for him. oh gosh, if Elaine ever got to spend time with him...fun, easy times would be over. I can't wait to see what else you have planned for these two :D

omgosh I can't even decide what is more adorable: Gail playing with Marty so he can win and then defending his choice of color, or the awkward yet cute Golly convo at the end?! I think it's a tie and I absolutely love this story and it's only the first chapter lol. And Gail is such a big kid (secretly) so this is perfect for her to play with the kids and still act like she isn't doing something nice (even though we all know she is, and so do Holly and Traci)
