Like this story so far but I feel compelled to say that Emma & Regina aren’t quite the same, as bad as Emma had it in her childhood she still had escape routes via social services/psychologists/teachers/etc if it got too bad & was granted her freedom when she aged out while Regina lived a childhood of forced isolation, brainwashing, trauma & abuse (no social workers for her) then a forced marriage & motherhood as a teen (whether rape was involved or not, the daily fear of it would be hugely traumatic as well) which ran into adulthood with more isolation, brainwashing & abuse followed by a complete psychotic break plotted out by Rumple. Emma was a loner(we think) at the same time she had multitudes of chances granted by a modern world then a son who loved her no matter what she did, then friends, men, parents all throwing themselves at her wishing for her to love them back. Regina never had that expect for a psychotic mother, a neglectful father & egocentric Snow. So yes, they’re similar in ways but Emma demonstrates a complete lack of regard for the life Regina lived that taught her not to love & that no one can truly love her; those few she loved most taught her these lessons in words & deed repeatedly. Both women need therapy, Regina especially.

Sorry for the rant but I always get a bit miffed when people say Regina’s childhood & life was the same or comparable to Emma’s or god forbid, Hook’s (he too was granted freedoms then love Regina never had), because it really wasn’t; Regina definitely won the gold medal for most fucked up life on Once.
