It's hard to believe I haven't reviewed this fic before, because, oh, I have read it many times. I keep finding my way back to it, and every time I see it there in the list of what you've written, I want to read it again. I just love how insightful, how reflective it is. Like when Snow says "if it's real," Hook and Emma *will* hurt one another. That's just so incredibly honest. We learn to be make do with cliche, but the most pleasurable stories to read are the ones that see past it.

I also love the way you modulate Hook's openness and defensiveness throughout the story. One of the most interesting things about him as a character - to me, anyway - is the way he can be so determined on a course of action (for good or for ill) that he sometimes acts without a thought for his image/how he comes across to others, but other times he can be defensive and easily embarrassed and protect himself with borderline-rude flippancy. So much openness that shuts up just as quickly. I thought that came across in so many of his little gestures in this conversation - how much he longs for connection and acceptance, and yet how quickly he sometimes gets in his own way by assuming he will not be accepted and that he's actually being judged.

I'm rambling.

In any case, I appreciate this story so much, because it has so much to offer both characters, and because I wish it were canon (because Snow in particular deserves better material sometimes), and because you wrote something I've been wanting to see very much but also did it in a particularly precise and rewarding and insightful way. It's worth coming back to more than once!

I really liked this story. I always find it so touching how overwhelmed Hook gets when someone says something nice about him. He never expects it.

This was an incredibly lovely one shot; heartfelt, sweet and honest. I so loved how Snow went into the list of things she had dreamed of for Emma's love one day, how Hook apologizes - assuming that she doesn't feel he's it - and then Snow's final assurance. I have read several one shots following the wonderful 4x02 episode, but this one takes a unique angle and stands out!

Dude, this is what I was waiting for after the episode. I love Charming/Snow hanging out/talking with Hook fics. The show gives me a whole bunch of the Hook/Emma, but is a bit less accommodating when it comes to Hook and Emma's parents.

Especially with Hook and Emma blatantly cuddling in front of her entire family at the end of the last episode: there HAD to have been a bit of "Well, I guess this means they're officially a couple now" from the family (maybe it's about time Emma has that talk with Henry, eh? It's a bit obvious to the kid now)

This was lovely. I hope you write more stories for this fandom.
