I really like this story, I hope you still want to continue it
Guest chapter 1 . 1/5/2019
This is good, there were only few fanfics that is mainly focused on Mei Terumi.
Guest chapter 7 . 9/16/2018
Two years ago when the seventh chapter was posted and I read it I fell in love with this story because of the background it gave Mei. Naruto tends to make a lot of the girls too reliant on the males in their life or undercuts their accomplishments and Mei being one of the strong female characters we had a chance to see yet didn’t get all that much screen time disappointed me in canon. I just dropped by to see if this would be continued (and it wasn’t which was a shame) but it still remains one of my favorite stories to date.

love your story!
leggegg chapter 7 . 2/11/2018
I ABSOLTELY LOVE THIS! Fics set in Kiri are always rare, and a Mei-centric one is like finding a needle in a haystack in a larger haystack. Your writing style flows really well, and I'm not ashamed to admit that I've absorbed your characterizations as my own personal headcanons. Having both Yagura and Rin alive at the same time (for a while) was an interesting twist to the timeline, and I adore all the references to other canon characters. (pakura i'm looking at u)

Perfection.
YellowShoes chapter 7 . 9/21/2017
Wow! Just wow! This is incredible. Well, I clicked on this story because of Kakashi/Mei. However, you are such an amazing storyteller that now I'm finding myself liking Kisame/Mei as well! Added to favorites and followiing!

5'8 or 5'9 is about average for a male I'm fifteen and I'm 6'1 that's tall but for a bodyguard I imagine like 6'6 or 6'7
magma maiden chapter 7 . 7/8/2017
hi i just read your story because someone posted the cover art on tumblr and I was like "whoa there's kisamei fics on ffn?" because i don't think many people ship them ha

but yay! i love how you expand mei, from her academy days to jonin days, although the only thing that bugs me is where you said mei isn't altruistic but she helps kimimaro escape. the rest are flawless IMO, and I love every bits you write. the encounters with kakashi are amazingly written, i'm looking forward to the next installment :D
Marching Madly Onward chapter 6 . 5/4/2017
I'm loving this story for the most part - for the horrors of growing up a Mist-nin, Mei turning the supposed weakness of a woman into a strength as she grows into the woman who will one day be Mizukage, the odd friendships developing between the village's pet monsters because they don't have anywhere else to turn, the mythology that has sprung up around things like filed teeth, etc. - but I'm really not getting the Kisame/Mei pairing. It comes out of nowhere. He's a vicious brute who mouths off to her, then she sees him practicing once and you skip ahead years to tell us they've grown closer. You violated a basic rule of Show, Don't Tell, and that continued well into this chapter. So many of their interactions are left off the page and told to us after the fact to justify a closeness that doesn't feel at all earned. Hell, Mei has heaps more chemistry with Utakata and her teammates that Kisame.

There's also a weird interlude about how Mei isn't an altruistic person. But you've gone out of your way to show us that she is. She went out of her way to save Kimimaro for no reason that benefited her. The notion of everyone in Mist being a monster of some kind or another is a reoccurring idea, and you seem like you want us to believe that Mei is both a good person and a monster. There is something to be said for complexity and duality, but that entire paragraph did not jive with me. She kills, and quite brutally at that, but you gave her the out of her victims being awful people. If you wanted to sell Mei as someone who is both a bleeding heart and a monster, perhaps she could have been there for Zabuza's killing spree during the harvest. Zabuza isn't a particularly major character in this story, but he already feels like he has more complexity than Mei. She isn't *bad* by any stretch, but she's pretty clearly the pushed around, downtrodden tool who is slowly growing into her own. She's far more straightforward than Zabuza and Kisame under your hand.

That said, it's still a fantastic story, and one that has more than earned a place on my Favorites list. I'm not knocking the story as garbage or you as a terrible writer. It's just the opposite, really. You should be very proud of all the things you've done so extraordinarily well here.

There is only one chapter of Chimera left, but that's alright. I see you have a Hashirama-Madara-Mito story up, and that is the very next thing on my To Read list. What can I say? I'm a sucker for prologues and unseen stories that Kishimoto only hinted at. I find his supporting characters about five thousand times more interesting than Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura, and you have a proven track record of spinning his breadcrumbs into gold.

i totally agree with narutolove and all the other comments that say that mangetsu and ameyuri should be together, becuase i feel like because both of them are single among their friends, but also after reading all the chapters i noticed that mangetsu and ameyuri are like maya and lucas from girl meets world, because ya know if you read the chapters you'll see how both ameyuri and maya have similiar nicknames for mangetsu and lucas too like ranger Rick and juicebox jr. and how mangetsu and lucas are both very calm and patient and if you see scenes from girl meets world like when farkle is getting bullied and maya trys to find billy, lucas grips her back, mangetsu does the same thing with ameyuri in the 3rd chapter. anyways that's just my opinion but if anyone agrees with this comment to please.
Auraius chapter 7 . 1/13/2017
I love how Mei is depicted in your story, and I kind of wonder how the romance is going to transition from Kisame to Kakashi. Anyway, I am eagerly looking forward to your next chapter!
Secretie chapter 7 . 1/4/2017
I’m so happy you’re continuing this story because it’s so unique and creates such a complex, political view that the series was often lacking. I had to go back and refresh my memory on how this fic started and after reading it in full again, it really feels like an accurate journey for Mei- knowing who she becomes and where she ends up.

I just love seeing this relationship develop between Mei and Kisame. This is a strange narrative in the sense that we know ultimately what happens to these characters- so there’s a sense of knowing that not everything will go well between these two, but the bond now is very real and natural. Assassin stories are a guilty pleasure of mine and it’s so enjoyable to read about these two as lethal and incredibly skilled soldiers. Mei is so perfect in this role and has really come into herself learning how to use her sexuality to become such a fearsome kunoichi. It’s so amazing to see the growth in her every chapter. You write espionage scenes so well- it honestly feels like watching a film. They are both so graceful and the use of the mist is so cool and signature to the village. Really beautifully written! And also so gruesome- you can really see what the mist has turned them into and that’s why I’ve always been fascinated by this village because their ruthlessness and lack of empathy. They are perfect soldiers, but are forced to sacrifice so much morality for it.

And I know I’ve said this before, but I just adore what you have done with Yagura’s character. His demise will be very intriguing in this plot. He is vastly more interesting in this story than in the actual series and it makes much more sense that he is so heartless and therefore created the Bloody Mist era. His timeline is hard to pinpoint and from what I remember, it was never entirely clear when Madara/Obito started manipulating him so I’m looking forward to seeing what you do with Mei’s rise to power. He is such a captivating antagonist- being young looking, but intelligent and cruel, and thriving as a dictator everyone fears- and usually Kage are elected or recommended to the position? You know a village is either being manipulated or corrupted when someone like him is the best choice. Really cool how you integrated the plot of Rin into the Mist’s story too. I honestly forgot about that connection and it was really fun to read.

Suigestu is really cute too and I loved that scene in their house. He’s got a sword inclination from the beginning! It’s funny how different Mangestu and Suigestu are in personality, but they are both so talented. The camaraderie between these characters is great to see considering there’s so much death and uncertainty around them. I just love how they’re all so tough and rough around the edges but really need each other as a support network. It would be so much worse if they had just been all alone. Do we know what happens to Mangestu? It’s been so long now I forget. I know he doesn’t live long so that will be sad to see the repercussions.

And my favorite part was the collision of all these characters that we know will have such a history going forward. Kakashi meeting Mei again is very exciting and you can see they are still in awe of each other, but with obvious tension and on a bit of a revenge mission. Their fight was so intense and I honestly can feel the physical pain when you describe it. They are brutal to each other and this was a very complex fight. That last little meeting alone in the mist was a really serene moment and a little telling. I feel like Kakashi sees potential in Mei and something special. I know they eventually develop some sort of working relationship and you can see just the dawn of it right now. Can’t wait to read more!

And also, thank you for writing Itachi true to his age at this time. It was so refreshing I can’t tell you enough. A lot of people assume is was always perfect at everything from infancy (seriously?) but even he needed time to develop and learn from his peers. We know he becomes incredibly strong and is a natural prodigy, but he also wasn’t that powerful or knowledgeable from the get go. And he knows that- which is equally as important. Itachi has never been arrogant and knows when to take advice, fight, or back down. It’s part of the reason he’s lived so long and is considered a genius. It was interesting to see Kisame and him interacting for the first time too. I like the idea of them meeting this long ago and eventually being on the same side- it was a great addition.

I also loved how you made Mei and Kisame so loyal to their home even though they see its flaws better than anyone. I think that’s very accurate to Mist shinobi in general- they seem to be very loyal and wherever they call home will always be nostalgic and worth protecting if there’s people there that they care about. Even victims of abuse and neglect will still be protective of the only place they have known as home and that definitely makes sense for Kisame and Mei.

I go honestly go on and on...there are so many interactions that are incredibly interesting to read about and I’m just so glad you’re continuing this fic and giving us readers a very accurate and plausible glimpse into what could have been happening in another village. Looking forward to more and seeing where you take this! Like I said, it’s a very entertaining story because there’s plot points we know about, but it’s where you fill in the blanks that are really interesting. Thank you for an amazing read!
