wow! I am amazed, and very impressed, that Edward was able to resist her in his weakened state- and so soon after tasting human blood, as well. It's too bad he couldn't have drawn on that strength a few weeks earlier.

hopefully the woman's kindness will remind him that there are people waiting for him back home who care about him!

ooooh! interesting turn of events! I can definitely see Edward doing all this. Definitely. I just want to hug him :(

Carlisle had the right idea, appealing to Edward's sense of duty; "if we need you to come back." versus "if you want to come back". I guess that normally would have worked but Edward is just too far gone with horror at himself right now. I wonder how much time is passing, and how long he is managing to go without feeding? (and what the results of that will be- will he have a true accident, or find an animal in time?)

in my story I'm writing right now I also had him resolve to stop feeding altogether (the 1950 story, if you're interested) but Alice saw the terrible future that would result, and stopped him by choosing that moment for her and Jasper to arrive and join the family.

This chapter really took the story in a unique direction! Can't wait to see what's next!

i think it's really good, when i was reading the chapter 6 i thought you had completly changed the story, but it would be some lovey dovey, boring thing, (sorry i didn't review on the other chapter by the way) but now you've put some drama in it and now its awesome, you really left me hanging, because i really want to find out what is going to happen next, and by the way pour Edward getting slaped by a newborn has got to hurt.

keep writting and i will keep reading.

Aw, I like Bella's beginning! I'm sure there will be more angst later, when she finds out the truth, but I'm glad you gave her and Edward a happy start, and he was even able to laugh and hold her hand. I think he's so baffled by her self-control that he's forgetting to hate himself for a moment. It was sweet :) But she'll need to learn the truth eventually... or will she even mind?

I'm glad Edward went back and suffered the change along with her. Hopefully she will find out about his sacrifice later on, and hopefully this "penance" will help him heal a bit. I especially lkiked how the other's couldn't pull him away from her. I'm excited to see what Bella says first, and what she remembers about what happened, and how that affects how she reacts to Edward.

Suggestion: this chapter seemed a bit rushed, maybe you were trying to get it out quicker? Don't be afraid to take your time and savor the plot, and of course reading through it several times to fix the sentences. Well-polished chapters are always worth the wait. Still great though, and I'm looking forward to Bella's reaction.

Beautiful job writing Edward's angst, especially his shock and horror at seeing his red eyes. he's hasn't seen them since back when he really WAS a murderer.

Alice is so sweet at the end :) Of course now Edward will get to feel guilty later for abandoning Bella while she changes LOL

oh, this was so sad! It must have been so hard for Edward to have to run up to his siblings, asking what happened, and playing dumb for the school secretary.

Aw Carlisle is so sweet and he understands Edward so well, knows that he is thinking of himself as a monster. I'm glad he went ahead and explained the singer phenomenon, too... not that it'll help Edward feel any better. In this timeline nobody else in the family can understand what he's going through, even with the accidents they've had, because none of them has ever messed up this badly before. Plus his guilt about his rebellious years will probably come crashing back now. Poor, poor Edward :( !

This story looks interesting! I'm not sure I've ever seen this scenario (which really, almost happened) covered in a fanfic... by a decent author, I mean. And your writing style looks great!

I love how Carlisle ran right in there to help, had a great idea for the coverup and was immediately understanding and comforting. I assume they will let Bella live :)
