Guest chapter 6 . 10/3/2018 You keep apologizing for profanity... but why apologize? Why not just leave it out? You can do without at least most of what's in here. I don't recall the films using the "f-word," certainly not as much as you do, so I don't really understand why you find it necessary. If it's your preference to use it, then that's your preference, but your apologizing for it suggests that you don't actually prefer it. I don't prefer it either, and am actually changing to skimming this story rather than deep-reading it because all those "f"s leave a nasty taste in my mouth and the more of them that a story has, the less likely that I'm going to read it. (I don't speak that way and I don't read stories that use it excessively because if I read it I'm more likely to end up using it by accident.) Just because other people use the language doesn't mean you have to. Be bold, be yourself; don't use language you don't like and then apologize for it. Just refuse to use the language that you don't like. |
Guest chapter 2 . 10/3/2018 I don't know that you still want constructive criticism as it's been awhile since you posted it, but mine would be to have McCoy be a bit more professional in his treatment of the injured landing party. I'm assuming that he was sent to meet them in the transporter room so that he could actually help them, not interrogate them, send them to M'Benga, and then report to Spock. Surely there is an official procedure for what to do if the captain goes missing, who to inform and how to make sure that rescue gets started as quickly as possible. As concerned as McCoy would be and while he definitely would question the patients on what happened, just as you wrote it, I think that after that he would actually help take care of them rather than leaving it all to M'Benga. While McCoy cares tremendously about Jim, I believe that as a doctor, he also cares deeply about the life of each and every one of his patients and takes his responsibility to them very, very seriously. And I think that Spock, as the actively commanding officer at the time, would be informed by the landing party instantly what had happened to the captain without McCoy even needing to play go-between. Those are just some thoughts, though. It's your story! Thanks for writing a good friendship story, the world needs more of them! I'm looking forward to the rest of it. |
mckydstarlight chapter 6 . 1/26/2017 *has feelings |
mckydstarlight chapter 5 . 1/26/2017 *flails |
mckydstarlight chapter 4 . 1/26/2017 Hahahahaha! Angry, disgruntled Bones is my aesthetic. |
mckydstarlight chapter 3 . 1/26/2017 Dorks. Both of them. |
mckydstarlight chapter 2 . 1/26/2017 Me too. |
mckydstarlight chapter 1 . 1/26/2017 Poor Bones. Putting up with James T. Kirk can not be easy. :) |
Fetherhd chapter 6 . 1/10/2017 I notice that this hasn't been updated in a while. If you are done I truly enjoyed the stories. A part of me hopes you are not done though! |
Fetherhd chapter 3 . 1/10/2017 I love this so far. Really liked the fact that this one was told from McCoys point of view. |
Celestia Vanguard chapter 6 . 1/5/2017 I love this so much! You are a great writer and they're just such great friends! I would have liked to see a bit more Spock, but you're focus wasn't him, so that's certainly more of a personal preference. Hurt Kirk is fun to read but yours was fun and serious but only enough to ground it and real enough it could have happened! Great Job! |
Dalamanza chapter 4 . 12/18/2016 Can you write the story of what happened with the DFF and the assassination attempt please? Also, loved this story |
ThePro-LifeCatholic chapter 6 . 10/2/2016 I just powered through all six chapters. I love the "Five Times..." ficlets, and you definitely did Bones and Kirk justice! You kept them in-character, even with the amount of wounding/hurting/all-around-angst-and-wump (I personally find it rather hard to have a lot of that stuff and still keep the characters as themselves). I especially enjoyed the little snarky bits of humor that you smoothly incorporated into Bones' and Kirk's thought processes. An all-around lovely job, and it was a pleasure to read! |
XV13 chapter 6 . 9/26/2016 Ahhhhh! I loved this from start to finish! Thank you for this great work! |
Nessissarystargazer chapter 6 . 8/23/2016 I enjoyed it very much, thank you. I also feel that the ending could have been something else, but it works with the story and gives closure so it's good to me. As for the story as whole, it's creative, has a good tempo, the characterisations are great and the way you blend thoughts with actual thoughts (were long explanations stops for shorter fast paced mind speaking) really puts you in the moment. That can be harder when the story is written in third person perspective but you work it splendidly! All in all I'm very happy I read this, so thank you for writing it! |
