Duel Monsters serving as guardians while you sleep would be extremely useful to a Slayer. (Laughs) I do love how Buffy refers to Kuriboh and Shield Gardna because it is an accurate description but also a ridiculous one.
As for Kaiba being technomancer, yeah I can certainly believe that.
I like that the reason that people keep trying to take over the world with Dual Monsters Tournaments is because Games are Rituals and Tournaments are basically powered up Greater Rituals free for the use of any Mage who can win it. It is certainly a headcannon that I am now adopting too.

Admittedly, I DO kinda wish for this to be a legit pairing. Neither Yami nor Buffy have had normal lives, or deaths, and both are card carrying members of the I've-Saved-The-World-From-Certain-Doom-Again Club. I think they'd work really well together.

Also, it would be interesting to see their friend's reactions to their hooking up. The Destiny Duo, saving the world one Power-Obsessed-Crazy-Maniac-Big-Bad at a time!

Might I make a request for a side story of this fic? One pertaining to a game of strip poker between Yami and Buffy? I can't get the image out of my head. xD

This story was worth it just for the esoteric stuff about the ritual nature of games and the principal of sympathy. It's always good to know there are other people who like that kind of stuff. I had never really thought about applying it to yugioh, but it works great and kinda explains a lot so super love it.

Didn't notice this one when it came out, but it is good entry in your crossoververse. The idea of games as rituals makers perfect sense in the Buffyverse, and it becomes even more plausible when you bring the concept of names into it. The idea that a being's true name contains their innermost essence and their true power is also a classic law of magic in many stories around the world, and one that is pretty central to the story of Yu-Gi-Oh. A player placing an image of a being they wish to summon into a ritualistic circle (the game arena) while calling out it's name ("I summon xxx) sounds like a rather typical ritual from the buffyverse. Like you said, there is a reason why Atem still goes by Yami in day-to-day conversation. I imagine that you don't want to invoke the true name of a pharaoh, the mortal representative of the gods, unless you intend to throw some serious firepower into the ring.

Otherwise I don't have much to say, except that I hope you make another entry in this, hopefully with the extended cast.
