I'm very glad Kirk didn't get mad at McCoy about it, seeing as it was not his fault.

Something trying to get through you from the inside out? That has got to be incredibly painful.

That might not have been the best idea, bringing him back to the Enterprise if he can't control the monster-whatever it is-thing.

That does seem logical.
