I liked how you wrote this series of Spuffy scenes and it was a shame that some of these were never added to the show. Thanks for writing a brilliant idea.

I like these scenes. I think this one especially captures the characters’ complex emotions at this point in the storyline.

She burned the letter. She would have never sent Spike the letter (if she knew where he was), and she couldn't keep it for his return, because one of the Scoobies might stumble over it and then everyone would know what she had been doing with Spike all year. My opinion of Buffy remains unchanged: she holds her friends' opinion of her higher than she does her own happiness. She's a fool, and could wind up being alone forever because of it.

Could you please write an extra chapter or so to give this world's Buffy and Spike a happy ending? I feel like Buffy's words are rare and should be made actions.

Fantastic chapter!

She never did apologize for that beating. It always made me mad that Buffy and the Scooby's got away with all the bad things they did with a simple I'm sorry or a batch of cookies and sometimes not even that. But Anya and Spike were never allowed to forget their mistakes. They had to grovel and beg for forgiveness. In my opinion what Buffy did to Spike in that alley was just as bad if not worse than what Spike TRIED to do in the bathroom. Buffy didn't have to ask for forgiveness for her actions simply because a) no one knew what she had done. b) it was only Spike so there was no need to feel bad about it.

I can't decide if the death wish she had that year made her hope Spike would get angry and kill her in that alley or if the thought of prison where a person doesn't really have to think about anything or be responsible for anything was what she wanted. Prison was a release of sorts not as good as death but still...

Very nicely done! I like how you tied this into Dead Things and Gone. You always write these so believably.

Before I remembered what episode this was my thoughts on(figures, the one time I skip the authors note till after I read the chapter): We need to run away together. This made me think it was for Something Blue. Love the chapter.
