sorry, was doing reviewing the whole story under ch 3 (but hit wrong button-don't know what mentioned, my apologies): don't know when amicar became widely used. It's a pain in the butt, because it is given hourly, which means no 30-60 min period of "on time administration", standard in most drug administration. I hated it with a fiery passion! When it became widely used, and Mannitol is still widely used today, it is very effective; was the mid 1970's. The other thing is that fluid from ears and nose is tested for the presence for glucose, a hallmark of CSF presence-the only "food" the brain can use is straight glucose, and in the setting of a bleed with leaking CSF, is extemely useful and a simple diagnostic tool. Minimal stim precautions are a given-even the nurses whisper, lights are minimal, bed rails are padded to present injury during a seizure, anti-epileptics are commonly used, confusion is normal, cares are batched to avoid constant interruptions and visitors are expected to abide by the guide lines. We used these all the time in the NICU, where intracranial bleeds are extremely common. As a rule, we did not utilize IPC monitoring. The younger the neonate, the more at risk he is for a bleed, due to an extremely fragile germinal matrix. Some are so fragile that we can't allow parents to even touch their baby, because that in itself is stimulation. That's a hard call, trust meWith micropremies, vaginal deliveries were avoided when C Section could is possible for just that reason. Watch your drug interactions-iv valium is actually NOT compatible with any other substance, including, sterile water. Dextrose, and NS; any decent nursing drug reference will help-I use Nursing 2015 or Gahart;s IV drug administration; and it has to be given slowly IV, but can be given IM as well, it just takes longer to work, again, such a joy to have to figure out how to minimize problems with administration,. That said, I thought it was a good story and am looking forward to the continuation of the story! And honestly, most people would not see the picky stuff. I only know from what I've worked, and standards may have changed. (my family hates when I watch a medical show on tv, since I have a tendency to jump up and down, point at the screem, and proceed to inform the world (at top volume, what else!) of all the medical inaccuracies. Hazard of the profession, we all do it). Overall, a good story. I hope you'll write more and finish this story. I'll be watching :) Thanks!

I just read this story and you did a good job describing the progression of an undiagnosed head injury and its potential outcome. A few things I would add for consideration: mannitol was a widely used drup for decreasing increased for IVP, HOB was kept elevated about 30 degrees with head in midline position to decrease ICP and to promote drainage of fluid. Also, these pts were kept in a minimal stim environment environment, a true joy since nurses, by virtue of their long hours, do like to talk. And for all who think they should suck it up and shut up, YOU try working 12-16 hr with minimal break time. You would be surprised at the need to get even a minimal break. Also, consider the use of mannitol, a diurectic widely used to help decrease ICP. I would add the drug amicar, but could not find a reference as to the wide acceptance of it in treatment, so

You did a fine job of putting what was needed and not dragging the story on. It was just right for a good story about one event. Glad Johnny was alright and got his memory back!
DixieDavenport chapter 2 . 10/20/2014
Great chapter! Hope Johnny has several more of his 9 lives left at this point! Johnny with a Frankenstein look? Can't be good! At least it's near Halloween when I'm reading! LOL

I liked your new story so I backed up to read this one.

Great start! Adrenaline can be a wonderful thing and when it is flowing you may not realize you are as hurt as you are until later. Johnny seems to have ignored what he thought was nothing but it looks like the injury could be pretty bad. Hope he turns out to be alright.

Really enjoyed it.
NickTonyK chapter 3 . 9/2/2014
Pretty good! Too bad you had to go on vacation. Would have liked more!
NickTonyK chapter 2 . 9/2/2014
Pretty good! Surprised Roy was able to stay, thought he was still on duty.

Love it!

Welcome to the world of fanfiction reviewers. You'll have to take, unfortunately, the bad with the good. Some readers believe what they think is gospel and because they don't like your story then no one else should. Just know that there are more satisfied readers out there than dissatisfied ones.
Oh and by the way, Dixie using the term Tiger is in the pilot episode so you haven't pinched anyone's idea there. Keep writing what you want to write...My only criticism would be more detail but that may not be your style so write the way you feel comfortable with.

I didn't have a problem with your story but I feel I should warn you that borrowing fanon from other writers COULD be considered a form of plagiarism. Yeah, there's a lot of general fanon stuff that is spread across many different stories, like Johnny has a ranch with horses, or Johnny suffered an abusive childhood, or Johnny gets called 'Tiger' by Dixie. But something that is specific to one person's story and isn't part of accepted general fanon, like Johnny takes dancing lessons or buys a sailboat, you need to ask permission from that author if you can use their details. If you use them without that permission, that's plagiarism and can get you into big trouble on this site. Not only will it make the fans lose respect for you, it also can result in your work getting deleted for you by site administrators, who will put a permaban on your account. You can also get turned over to one of the anti-plagiarism forums and get your name put on a blacklist of known plagiarists. So I guess if I were a writer, I'd be really careful about using even general fanon stuff and try to work on creating my own ideas.

Hey guys/gals ... i wrote this response back to one reviewer and will just post on here... i feel like this whole review thing got a little out of hand... my apologies... and i'm not trying to group people or step on anyones toes... this is my response, and i'll leave it at that ...

thanks for your opinion and view into my story... sorry if you felt bunched into a group of fans... i know everyone is different in what they like to read... maybe i'm the only one that likes to read stuff like that... and I do agree with everything you said, and it probably wont be remembered or read over and over again... but like i said this was sort of just for kicks and just a hobby (and my first one)... and I never said I would never write something different or "original" i was only saying i might have fanon stuff in future stories (i'm not opposed to the ideas and in fact enjoy some of them/reading them), but i might not, who knows. ... and i know these reviews just kind of got out of hand... and i apologize to everyone for that too, i really wasn't trying to come across nasty at all, hope no one takes any offense. thanks!
Guest chapter 1 . 7/28/2014
Could you please stop claiming to "write for the fans and give them what they want to read"? I don't want to read cliched junk like this and I'm sure I'm not the only one who resents you trying to pretend your "story" is a representation of what I want to read as a fan of this show.
CatchFireAndBurnWithMe chapter 3 . 7/28/2014
I was going to stay out of this, but your second review drew me into it. I have to hand it to you, at least you're honest in admitting that you're not at all interested in writing anything remotely unique, original, or creative. You're honest in admitting that relying solely on the fanon created by other writers is sufficient enough for you to formulate your own work and that you apparently have no desire to come up with your OWN character backgrounds and portrayals. You're honest in admitting that your only reason to write stories is to pander to "the fans", giving them what you *think* they want as far as a quick fix for those who are mindless enough to think that this kind of stuff is even remotely resembles "grate riting!" So kudos to you for being brave enough to cop to all that, your honesty is much appreciated, even if it does mean that you're willing to limit whatever capabilities you have for writing to just creating mindless twaddle for "the fans."

But I feel I should point out that it's not right to lump the ENTIRE batch of "Emergency!" fans in with those you are pandering to because for as many who think this is "grate riting!", there's many more of us who know it is not. I should also point out that "unoriginal" means that the minute the reader closes out the link to your story, it will be quickly forgotten. That's the problem with unoriginality, there's nothing unique or exciting about it to make a story stick in a reader's mind and make them want to go back to read it again and again. There's upwards of hundreds of stories where Johnny gets a head injury and almost dies or develops amnesia, while Roy sits an anxious vigil at his bedside. Do you think I can recall the title of any of those stories? No. Do you think I want to try to find any of those stories to read them again? No. So by restricting your work to rehashed plot lines and repeated fanon, you're writing stuff that is absolutely, positively 100% forgettable. If that's the dull mediocrity you strive for, more power to you. And again, thank you for your honesty. It had to be very difficult to admit that you're not at all interested in being unique or creative on here and that the most we can expect from you as a writer is rehashed plot lines and repeated fanon.
