StarlightBooks609 chapter 8 . 5/22 I absolutely love this story! The parralism between Obi-wan's escapades are divine and glorious. |
Guest chapter 8 . 12/25/2017 My gosh this is one of my favourite stories- and I love all your work so much. As a massive obi-wan fan I just love how you write him, and his character- it’s spot on! Please keep writing, I absolutely live reading it! |
OwlOtaku123 chapter 8 . 10/31/2017 This story is so good, the parallels are amazing! |
LobsterLobster chapter 8 . 6/12/2017 I loved this whole story! The parallels were brilliant! Poor Obi-Wan, always getting into trouble. The ending was great too :) 3 So many great moments. |
reppad98 chapter 8 . 3/30/2017 Oh, this was a really nice story. I have to admit that the first chapter had me a bit confused, because it sounded as if Obi-Wan was in danger, but he also sounded like a child and he didn't know where he was, and so I didn't know it either haha. I really felt his confusion :P And because it was a parallel story it was also a bit confusing in the beginning, but I got used to it. You really made it /parallel/ with a lot of same sentiments and the use of your words, you did that really well. I was expecting that child Obi-Wan wouldn't be able to escape the healers forever, but I wasn't sure how the story about the older Obi-Wan was going to go. But since they paralleled each other, I suppose I should have expected that he would get captured as well. I wonder if Obi-Wan will remember the adventure from his childhood and see the similarities, I mean, getting locked in a freezer is kind of memorable... XD Anyway, a very nice story, I liked it, and keep writing! ! |
peacelight24 chapter 8 . 3/12/2017 I somehow have never read this before. It's wonderful. I swear, you're the only author I know who routinely makes me reach for a dictionary. Your lexical prowess is impressive. I hope you continue writing fics for this fandom. I realize you've done just about every story possible about three times over and your Lineage/Legacy saga was probably at least as emotionally draining for you as it was for your dedicated readers (I mean that in the best way), but I do hope to read more from you soon. Your skill is incredible and every time you publish something it just seems to be better and better. Of course, if you're actually writing your own fiction right now, I would be unsurprised. You're undeniably talented, and I think not writing your own story would be an unfortunate waste. |
m.tarnina chapter 8 . 9/8/2016 Nice symmetry there - huge commendation for the parallelism (wouldn't have occurred to me in a million years, and it so works, a child learning tricks to use later in life). I usually approach this stream-of-consciousness kind of thing with caution, but you make it interesting and appropriate to the protagonist's mental state. As well as quite readable, despite a decidedly purple hue. Obi-Wan, ever the smartass (even as a kid he's serious like a mountain gorilla - it's adorable, and so is his impeccable logic). Also, prisoners of war are supposed to be treated humanely (does SW world have any Geneva?). He is also adorable as an adult, but don't tell him that. Apparently, Obi's adorableness only grows in time. Ooh, and the fruit is brilliant! I worked out what he'll do, but not how (in chapter five). It's a really good piece. |
hannahsmetana chapter 8 . 7/28/2015 That was sublime! Your young obi-wan is too perfect! Really clever plot device with the two parallel stories, it worked so well. The humour and action were perfectly balanced to keep the pace moving along nicely. Well done on publishing such a brilliant piece of work, and thank you. |
Eirian Erisdar chapter 8 . 8/19/2014 Oh, man. This is one of those stories I'll come back and read and reread, because the parallels are just too good. I don't know how you do it, Ruth, but your old and young Obi-wan comparison fics are almost unreal in how well they're executed. I nearly squealed when Depa appeared - and it amuses me to think little Obi reacted to Mace that way, when they know each other on a first-name basis in later years. :) A very enjoyable read! |
Eirian Erisdar chapter 4 . 8/19/2014 I've finally got time to read this - and this is HILARIOUS. I love your little Obi. He's always an adorable mix of stubborn and cute in his every appearance in your stories. It takes tremendous skill to link the older character with the young, and you've accomplished this beautifully. :) |
sterling5842 chapter 8 . 8/3/2014 Master Ali knows his charge well. Scolding about endangering himself would have no effect on Obi-Wan, but chiding him for inconveniencing others will always do the trick. Obi-Wan’s instincts were right—Ali’s arrival provided exactly what he needed—it just wasn’t what he wanted or expected. *** The first glimpse of Anakin was quite nice…”knee-deep in droid parts.” It sounds like he takes after someone we know well. :D The “not-rescue” was sweet, hilarious, and cool. About time Anakin cleaned up his mess. ;) *** Ah, so lil’ Obi-Wan was justified in fighting against the bacta—it makes him “doofy?” Ha! *** And both versions of Obi-Wan are reunited with friends and their rightful place resumed. This tale was so enjoyable! I loved the adventure! Thank you so much for posting! |
sterling5842 chapter 7 . 8/3/2014 Betrayal, eh? Poor, wee lad learning to expect perfidy even from Jedi masters who let one take a bit of a nap in their arms. I’m not sure either Mace or Obi-Wan would be prepared to hear how cute that scene was. ;p *** Oh, I loved that image of Obi-Wan like a “youngling splashing at the shore of an infinite sea” representing the Force still there for him even though he can’t quite consciously access it. Why do I suspect he’ll leave out the “took a nap in the clutches of the droid escorts” in his grand retelling of the tale later? Ha! *** Oh, Obi-Wan will probably some day get his wish to be metaphorically “blasted into oblivion” by Mace’s displeasure. Good to know dreams can come true. :p Ha! And Master Che learns negotiation with a child is always dangerous particularly when it’s Obi-Wan. I adored his moment of triumph! (But how did I miss his costuming, er, lack?! One wonders if an older Obi-Wan ever made the same choices in later attempts at escape from the healers.) *** Respect for Puggil for recognizing Obi-Wan’s failure to escape wasn’t due to stupidity but probably due to some sneaky sabotage. Glad he didn’t figure it out too soon, though. As always, the General’s wry internal commentary was very enjoyable. :D *** Ka-boom! Always a good place to end a chapter. ;p |
sterling5842 chapter 6 . 8/2/2014 Oh no, not the masters! ;p I liked that the regular diners have the wisdom not to inquire too deeply into the matter of a youngling trying to play hide and seek under the table. Indeed one would perhaps think Jedi would feel duty bound to meddle, but I’m glad they can learn to be “selective noticers” as any mere mortal child-carer might sometimes be. Ha! Loved “this is not the table you are looking for!” :D Ah, Depa was an unexpected but pleasant surprise. And where goes Depa, goes mighty Mace. :D Oh, of all the masters to be found by! Oh, and the description of Mace through wee Obi’s eyes is awe-inspiring indeed! I loved the little one’s concern for the proprieties of whether or not to offend Depa by escaping. Perfect! *** Hmm…I wonder if Dooku and Obi-Wan share a past in this scenario. It’s just dawning on me how much that shared history will color things when the Lineage-Legacy verse reaches that point. Yikes! *** I liked the small indulgence in face-making and the blithe “I’ll be there shortly.” Always too cool! *** I loved this chapter! |
Eruhin chapter 8 . 7/31/2014 Delightful resolution to this story. I absolutely loved Puggil's reaction, his incredulous "You...!" at his (seemingly) helpless captive tearing his station apart :D Little Obi-Wan clinging to Mace was adorable, though I suspect that his older self would prefer not to remember it ;) I liked Depa's cameo also. I was as glad to see Ali Alaan as Obi-Wan was, his later "betrayal" notwithstanding. And I loved Garen wanting to hear everything about Obi-Wan's outrageous adventures and then snuggling up to him on the bed. So adorable :) I loved Obi-Wan's undisguised joy at seeing Anakin, their customary banter and that lovely bedside moment where they almost talked about their feelings :P It was a very pleasurable read, thank you :) |
poisonouschicken chapter 8 . 7/31/2014 Ahhhh I have such a soft spot for injured Obi-Wans. Would love to see Anakin's first encounter with loopy bacta-ed Obi-Wan. I imagine it provided for years of blackmail material. |
