Another cute story! I liked how you said, there’s no “bad guy” here. It’s Jareth fighting himself and that makes a wonderful story. I love how you used Tommy Jones, lol! It’s sweet and also a great tribute to David himself!

I’m glad you didn’t neglect his more arrogant and less than good side. Too many authors make that mistake of making him perfectly rational and calm all the time without good reason. And Jeven really explains jareth, omg! So does Mila. I can tell Jareth has inherited both parts of them.

And Wendy is such a great character. Usually those friends of Sarah tend to be so much in the background (including in my own stories) that it just doesn’t make them that lovable. Wendy has spunk but also is good to Sarah.

I’m a little sad that Sarah doesn’t have a good relationship with her own family but that’s nothing to do with your writing, just that I myself feel empathetic towards Sarah. I have a good relationship with my immediate family, not so much my extended on my dad’s or stepdad’s side. Oh, and them being grown up and officially moving out is a good plan. I’ve never really seen it done, people just assume it’s magic. Honestly it’s inspired my own thoughts and stories too. Sarah wouldn’t want to act like she was never there, it’s still a part of her world and if she can then she’d keep a part of herself there at least for a while.

Finally here is a different aspect of Sarah-family relationship: not "they became closer" or "they pushed her away", but a normal course of events for a family where a father started a new family but at the same time had to take care of an older daughter from his previous marriage. Your point of view is more realistic imho.

I had a visceral reaction to this chapter. First of all, that means you did a phenomenal job - it's the goal of every writer, right?
DB's drug use is a touchy subject for me, mainly because of the mental illness in his family. I know firsthand (through the experience of close family members) the damage that can be caused by well-meaning Psychiatrists and Psychologists (and some therapists who should leave the field and get jobs as social workers), as well as the good they can do.

One family member who relies on synthetic, man-made medications kills himself, while the other self-medicates, and somehow manages to pull through. I can't explain it, don't claim to know anything about it. Just sayin' that sometimes addiction isn't just addiction - and yes, I see why Tommy has the problem - it goes deeper than drugs. And I'm not saying that drugs are the answer. I'm just saying...it's complicated.

Anyway - amazing story! Sorry for the ramble. Sometimes I just wonder if DB didn't save himself (look at his brother) through self-medication - yes, he often went to far, but he lived, a long, long time, tortured though it may have been.

Well, we all know how arrogant Jareth is so of course he would make himself known during lovemaking with Sarah.
