Oh no I can see that final scene planting the seeds for some ANGST and I can't wait to have my heart ripped out.

I wasn't too sure about the Hero's Shade blatantly revealing himself to be the Hero of Time but I realised that it makes him a greater foil to this unique characterisation of the Hero of Twilight. It challenges his insecurities more than some ghostly skeleton would.

Typo near the the very end: "Link set of back towards the forest temple."

I loved seeing Midna have a more active role in helping Link on his journey by using her powers to assist him in battle more. I also think that unbeknownst to Link, her setting alight the bodies of the shadow beasts was actually a cremation ritual. She's honoring the lost Twili in her culture's own way.

You also do a great job of turning these gameplay moments into narrative by making the right changes or dramatising them. Those moments also show Link ever so slowly becoming more confident in his fighting prowess which makes me more intrigued to see him develop some more.

Not too bad for the first of the epilogue arc. It was bittersweet reading Impaz and the Sheik checking out and leaving Kakariko Village. On the other hand, it was nice seeing Bo's decided to stay in the village, Kakairko has always had this sort of homely feel since OoT. Speaking of home, I feel like this was a nice book ending for Ilia in managing the Eld Inn, and with her father close by.

I see the. to be honest, not what I was expecting. I'll reserve judgment at the moment but Iw as expecting more of a...'following their lives over a few years or so' sort of thing. Instead of a 'where are they now' sort of deal.

Like I said, I'll reserve judgment to see how it all plays out but I'll admit...a bit disappointed it went this way.

Okay so guess who decided to start reading all of your Midlink fics in order of release and then start posting reviews on this one after 6 years of absence? That's riiiiiiight. Here are my thoughts so far.

Chapter 1 - First of all, great prose! I’m apprehensive about Link’s characterisation but I can see a lot of potential for character development which is really interesting. I feel like he’s often written as a static character (which isn’t always a bad thing but it isn't always the most interesting either) but you’re going for a more dynamic approach which I look forward to seeing.

Chapter 3 - There’s a lot of filter words. I like seeing how afraid and hesitant Link is during his first ever monster encounter. I think it really sets the stage for his character development and will make his victories against progressively bigger and badder enemies feel more earned.

Chapter 5 - There is a typo: “and very corridor looked almost identical to the last.” I also liked Link’s monologuing and introspection in this chapter. It made his emotions feel more real, and really emphasised how daunting these small, early game obstacles would realistically be for Link at this journey.

Chapter 6 - There is a typo: “But then why was still a wolf?” Loved the physical description of the shadow beast. I feel like your descriptions of enemies really helps convey how intimidating they are to our timid little Link. Another typo: “Link at the magnificent spirit.” Love your description of Ordona. I’ve seen a few other typos but I feel like listing them every time I see them will greatly lessen my enjoyment of the story. I feel bad for criticising the scene where Link sees his parents because it is quite effective.

I finally caught up with this story, and holy hell, that was intense!

And that moment with trying to put the sword back in resting place drew a good chuckle from me, even though the reason behind that was not so funny \_(ツ)_/

After all the bombastic action, it was nice that the adventures ended on a relatively quiet and peaceful note, it's quite fitting. It was nice seeing the formal alliance between Hyrule, the Light Realm, and the Twilight Realm and Link's knighting. Personally, I always like to think after the final battle, Zelda gave knighted him or gave him an official title for all he'd done, especially since he did most of the legwork in defeating Ganondorf, including facing him in mortal combat.

Capping off their adventures with the sheathing of the Master Sword was a nice touch. Across the franchise, it always feels like it's one of the things that draws Link's into crazy adventures. Following that, it was heartwarming to see him and Midna visit Rusl and Uli, the latter who gave Link some much needed advice. Once again, it showed just how far Link and Midna have come from bickering to truly loving one another, which also includes being there for the person you love when they're feeling at their lowest. I'll be looking forward to more moments like that, and seeing how everyone else is ding. I imagine there'll be a chapter centered on the bulbins and the...discontent some still feel toward them.

I have been reading this story for years now and I'm soooooo glad it's finally coming to a proper close and not just abandoned like so many be for it.

Also if you had waited just a day or so you could have posted this on the anniversary of when it was first uploaded.

guess we'll se what happens. This REALLY needs a pick me up after the past few chapters.
