Sabo's appearance actually made it worse for me, cause I would have loved to see all three fight together as adults. Not to mention the thought that Ace probably died without knowing... (Some irrational part of me tries to argue still.)

Anyway, I really liked this little insight. During the flashback I was pretty surprised at Ace's behaviour at first (cause we only knew his attitude later on) and this actually fits it very well.

It's just-it...wow! I love your writing style! Can I just say for one how much I love how you transition things? It's just so smooth and never slowing down to break the pace, and actually respects the intelligence of the reader because 'yes, we know what happened in Luffy's past but we can see the things you've changed up a bit to make it even more tear-jerking' and based off of the subtle hints in the story we're able to tell where the story is placed in different parts. Wow, was that a run-on sentence! :P I don't know if that made any sense, but I hope you understand at least what I'm trying to say here :P

You've supplied is with a sweet, different take from Ace's perspective on protecting and caring for his little brother. And though you've made a little Ace more gentle and loving towards little Luffy, I honestly see it pretty in-character, especially with all of the things they've gone through and the examples you've given of why Ace would feel that way.
God, you are so good at tearing at my heart! Especially with how you raised my heart up with all the sweetness and then threw it to the ground and stomped on it with the ending. Augh. It's so painful but I love it (beginning to sound like a masochist?) :P

Oh, and thank you SO much for the little heads-up in the author's note. Now I have something awesome to look forward to and watch with my other One Piece-loving friend :D

Oh the feels! I loved how you wrote about Sabo being the kinder big brother and how Ace doesn't know what to do when he realised this. It was just so good and then the marineford bit waaaah. Great story!
