Even years after this was written I absolutely adore this story.
The character interactions are spot on and the Doctor's description pulls me in everytime I come back to read this.

I just wish to say that you are absolutely brilliant, and I love this series for showing the more vulnerable side of the doctor so well — sure they do it from time to time on the show as well, but they rarely if ever allow him to do some actual healing. He just can't catch a break.
The fact that you'll be doing a fic for EoT makes me giddy with joy. Oh, that two-parter really broke my heart. They have him breaking down, and dying, and trying to make amends to everyone and there's nobody with him in the end and he's freaking terrified! By that point I sincerely doubt any fic would be capable of outmatching its angst...Please, if judging by how all the other fics in these series had gone, a fic by you would help tremendously.

Oh, I have just re-read this and it still moves me as much this time as it did the last. Thank you for all your Doctor Who stories. I have you bookmarked and have read all the DW stories at least once over the years. You are definitely a very gifted writer and I look forward to your EOT fix.

Wow. Wow wow wow. I love this series! Fortunately Ive got to read it so far all in one go, but I can't wait for the next part. I think your characterisation is flawless and each storyline has brought such amazing angsty feels and brilliantly timed humour. I really liked the doctor jack relationship which can be so fiddly and hard to capture. You really gave it justice, not to mention the whole master side of things that has been sneaked at so far. Just fantastic!

You know, what I love about this series is that it shows all the emotional baggage that the Doctor hides away and is almost never shown in any of the episodes. I think the closest they get - of what I've watched (s2-5 excluding most of 3) - is The End of Time (and I seriously can't wait to see your reworking of that episode). It shows the side of the Doctor we only see occasionally and in small glimpses most of the time. So thanks for this, it's brilliant. The characterisations are done really well, along with the drama in the relationship between Jack and the Doctor. I hope the next instalment comes soon.

This snip was fabulous. Your Rhys was spot on. I loved the part when he wouldn't let the subject of Gallifrey go. Let take a hint Rhys! But of course he wouldn't. The angst was great too. OOOH and the part at the end where re doctor goes all alien and powerful and telepathic. IT MAKES ME WEAK AT THE KNEEES.
