I watched Maleficent in theaters with my brother and he was very disappointed that the raven didn't get to kiss sleeping beauty. I kind of hoped Diaval and the faery would end up together, but after the credits I was a little disappointed that their relationship wasn't explored further. We just got the DVD and I watched the movie for possibly the tenth time today and decided to look for pictures and movie stills on the internet. There is tons of art, but what caught my eye was this link to fan fiction. I'd never heard of it before and curiosity got the best of me and now I am absolutely hooked! There are so many amazing stories, but this one is truly phenomenal! The characters seem very true and honest and though the trials they endure are heart breaking (Diaval gets torn up by dogs not once, but twice and blinded?!) I was in love with this portrayal. How have I gone this long and not heard of this? To The Silver Trumpet, your story is quite simply the most tragic, wonderful, beautiful thing I have ever read. (I won't confess how many times I've gone through it, but I swear I like it better with every reading) Thank you for sharing your creative genius with all of us romantics who left the theater unsatisfied.

The first line ‘Diaval tore through the bushes rapidly’ certainly grabbed my attention straight off the bat. I liked the atmosphere of immediacy that you created. Your use of description is superb, I loved this line ‘…The dogs grew ever nearer with their saliva-filled jaws dribbling and tearing ever closer to him.’ However, I don’t know if ‘tearing’ is the word I would use, of course this is just constructive criticism. We know that the dogs are pretty wild due to the connotations of a dog having saliva-filled jaws. The summary for this story is worded wonderfully and does the job of grabbing the readers attention. Overall, this was a pleasure to read.

Thank you for such a wonderful story and thank you so much for giving us such a beautiful ending. I appreciate the happiness you finally gave them, happiness that they deserved.
