Reviews for Light at the End of the Tunnel (Jane Series 6)
LilyBolt chapter 13 . 8/14/2015
This was yet another excellent addition to your Jane series. I have told you before that I am not usually one to read stories revolving around OC's dating any of the characters, most particularly Dean. However, I still grew attached to Jane right away. Maybe it's because you characterize her so strongly, and maybe its because your characterization for her meshes so well with Dean... And maybe it's because you know how to strike a balance between focus on Jane-and-Dean, and Dean's love of other characters, like his brother or Bobby or Cas. Honestly, it's likely a combination of all of those factors, not to mention a healthy heaping of your writing talent in general. It's easy to like an OC story when the story itself is written by someone who knows how to write. ;) Anyway, fantastic job all around, and if you do write another Jane story someday, I'll be sure to check it out! :D

P.S. My favorite line from this chapter was:

"All the fears he has for Sam come first. By extension, he worries for me. Only after he thinks of us, for the rest of his battle-worn friends, for the entirety of humanity, will he even admit he has fears for himself. My Dean. He wants to save us all."

Well that's Dean for sure, isn't it? lol Fabulous summary there. ;)

Oh, and I also loved Jane's need to call Bobby, and her promise to "explain later" why she was crying... Perfect, and important to keep her character true to itself, in this story most of all. :)
LilyBolt chapter 12 . 8/14/2015
Oh, this hurt quite deeply. I loved the focus you placed on how had obviously happened there; how Dean and Jane died. But most of all I loved the emphasis you placed on the way her hand was reaching for Dean, and his gaze was locked onto her. In such a simple way, you showed just how much they never had actually stopped loving each other, and just how tragic their love really was. And of course, you gave the current Jane (and Dean) every possible reason to fight against the future they have witnessed. All in all, I don't think you could have packed better feeling into this scene. Excellent work!

My favorite lines were:

"She died reaching for him. He died with his eyes on her."

and

"But I won't leave them reaching."

Both of those lines covered the topics I mentioned from this chapter extremely well. Those lines each made me pause to appreciate their depth. :)
LilyBolt chapter 11 . 8/14/2015
Ok, I am SO TERRIBLY sorry it took me such a damn long time to finally review this, but I never did forget. The update reminders have been sitting in my email's inbox, just waiting for me to find the free time to read them AND review. (In all honesty, reading them earlier was always an option, but reviewing, not so much. Since I would have felt wrong about reading and not reviewing at the same time, I chose to wait so I could do both simultaneously.) Anyway, great chapter! There was so much emotion driving this one... Obviously this is a very heated point in the episode itself, but you definitely succeeded in integrating Jane's point of view into things as well. You added her feelings on the matter- her pain- perfectly. I love how well you create the contrast not only between Dean and "the other", but between Jane and her "other", and perhaps most importantly, between Dean-and-Jane, and the other coupling of them. This episode obviously laid the foundation for such a contrast, but you sure play it up just right on your own, too. My favorite part this chapter was definitely:

"I have to make her see. I have to make her understand. I have to know that /I/ can never make this decision."

I loved that because it really drove home the desperation of the situation, and Jane's own pain at seeing what she might become, despite how certain she feels she never could. It is her first true seed of doubt about her ability to resist this apparent fate, and it was slipped in seamlessly. Great job! :)

Yay! I'm glad you're back! I've been there with life getting too crazy to write and losing your muse, so I really appreciate you coming back and writing for us. I enjoyed the chapter and hope you get the chance to write more and keep the muse going.

Great chapter and stoner cas was just silly:) loved dean as always:)
LilyBolt chapter 10 . 2/26/2015
It's so interesting to get to explore Future!Cas through the eyes of Jane. In the show it was clear that he was a downtrodden mess, but Dean coped with seeing his friend in such a terrible situation with humor and halfhearted attempts at talking. But Here, we get to see inside Jane's head as she observes the angel's new persona. It's interesting to see how obviously wrong his laugh is to her. It is "so sad". I always noticed that when I watched "The End". That for all of Castiel's interest in whores and substance abuse, he was never really relaxed, and certainly not at all happy. He missed the friends he gave up everything for, and that is obvious here, too. Even just in the way that, a couple times here, the Castiel seemed to brighten a bit in a real manner. Not faking his smile, but actually meaning it. I feel that Now! Dean and Now!Jane brought out that brightness in him. It's very interesting to watch, and both sweet and tragic at the same time. :)

P.S. I love the tension building between Jane and Dean, even as they both fight to pretend it's not there. I sure hope they work things out together!
LilyBolt chapter 9 . 2/26/2015
Eh, "closer to the show than you normally like to be" or not, this chapter was still great. ;) I really liked the way you handled Now!Dean tattling on Future!Dean about the whole Risa situation. The glee Now!Dean derived from getting to knock his apparent future self down a peg was delightfully entertaining to see unfold. :) Something that was the opposite of delightful to watch, but was handled with equal skill, was the distinct difference between Now!Dean-and-Jane, and Future!Dean and Future!Jane. First, the fact that Future!Jane rejected Dean, but they both go on acting like they're fine... That's true to who they are, and yet the broken way they walk near each other in total disconnect is so distinctly off. I loved the contrast between their distance and the way Now!Dean-and-Jane have a deeply rooted NEED to be near one another- a need for physical contact and the comfort that contact brings forth. Great job!

P.S. I think my favorite thing here was how distinctly I could hear Chuck's voice even when his dialogue wasn't specific to the show. Nice work there. ;)
