it wasn't just the whole preggo thing... like including ALL the outside events affecting them that could have happened during!

one thing i take issue with is that battousai would have never, never pulled a sword intentionally on any woman, especially kaoru, most especially a preggo kaoru. even during bakumatsu he fought for the innocent. he was and always will be an honorable man.

besides the teensy point above... this was highly entertaining, and fun. i love seeing enishi... good or bad... white haired bishi men are teh sex!(now imagine that spoken by a 49 year old woman... my point exactly)

One thing though, laboring moms push with the contractions to help push the baby down and out. Usually the mom starts to push when she's fully dilated and effaced and that takes several hours of labor contractions in a primipara like Kaoru (mom with first baby). Once the head pops out then the shoulders come next (upper then lower one), and when that's done, the rest of the body and the legs just slides out all on its own. Inexperienced hands should be careful not to drop the baby at this point because the newborn is very slippery and hard to hold.

Okay, I think that's going a bit too far for Kenshin. *scratches head* That's not something he's going to do. Going Batousai for lying about spongecake and being called a tightwad? Contrary to popular belief, the rurouni is not clueless and his insight is profound.

Now if it wasn't really about the spongecake but about something else...ya know, trust issues, worrying about the baby, etc etc. (I don't think it could be about pressure from work because, I'm sure Kenshin knows how to handle that one.) then I think it needs a little build up. I know this fic is finished and all but I just had to say it.

Still, Kenshin being unable to forgive himself is so him so that's okay.

Anyway, next chappie, I'm curious to see how it goes. _

I like your descriptions of greedy Kaoru. Sounds exactly right for a pregnant woman. And I'm not surprised Kenshin knew about the pickles. But I loved what he said (I'm not THAT dense!) Hahahaha. Wonderfully written. I wish I was online when I read each chapter, because each one displayed wonderful detail, and great storyline, a realistic take, and characters handling your situations as, I believe, they would in the series or manga. A wonderfull “fill-in” fic which illuminates a little more of the ‘in-betweens’ of the series. Great Job!

Sweet ending to this chapter. I wondered when Kenshin would react positively.
