I had honestly given up on this story, and yet here you are...what, a year, year and a half later? And back with a stunner. I had forgotten just how dark and violent Seraphine was. This chapter was...it was pretty damn alright.

(I loved this, if you couldn't tell. Just...maybe not have a 2-year update cycle this next round? Pretty please?)

I really love what your did with Quinn and Cytharat in this fic!
Your Cytharat is very classy and strong. The whole "let's be friends part" was great and I love how it turned out to be a very dangerous idea for everyone involved. I'm still trying to decided if your Cytharat is gay and flirted with Seraphine by accident or if something may happen between them?

Oh man, I'm so glad to see activity on this fic again! I had forgotten how painfully immature the girl here is, I'm looking forward to some serious character development. Poor Quinn.

I admit, I had to Google what the Omen was to get this reference, but that doesn't mean I didn't think it was pretty cool. Nice job fitting that in there! This twist with Qet is pretty badass. Hoping to see where you take it soon. P.S - that means update very very soon!

I apologize for not leaving a review earlier. Life has kept me pretty busy. Now that I have some time to sit down for a while, I'd like to leave another double review for two chapters. I was ecstatic when I saw an email announcing the post of chapter 7 this morning. It was a pleasure having something to read while I was waiting for some coworkers to get back to me.

About Chapter 6:

I loved the details of the dream sequence. It was both horrifying and intriguing. I wonder how things will play out with this new hint of betrayal afoot. We've seen that Seraphine is highly attuned to the Force and can foresee some events. That means that this dream is likely a strong warning. However, we've also seen that Seraphine is very paranoid and suspicious. This could be just another fear that she's a victim to.

As she awakens, we see more of her character develop. I really enjoyed her encounter with her new master and Quinn. To see him wearing a shock collar was definitely surprising. It's a shame, though, because it seems that whatever connection Seraphine and Quinn formed back at the Academy is now broken. I'm hoping that they'll be able to re-establish some trust between them as the story progresses. I think you're going at a great pace with these two (well, with everything in general).

Finding out that Seraphine destroyed a starship wasn't a surprise. She is already very powerful, and losing Tremel seemed to really hurt her emotionally. She doesn't seem like a typical Sith despite the cruelty and pride that she displays. There's something deeper to her, and I can't wait to see what that is.

About Chapter 7:

Here's where I squeal in joy. The Omen? Someone actually remembers and read about it? Oh my gosh! I absolutely loved that you included this reference. It really makes this story feel like a part of the cannon universe rather than just fanfiction.

Aside from that, I really liked the interaction between Seraphine, Quinn, and Vette. Everyone is spot-on in character. The dialogue felt very natural. It's also amusing to read about Seraphine's misgivings about flight. The man at the spaceport was a great touch as well. More and more, I'm wondering what this mystery is all about. What's this assignment on Balmorra and will it truly lead to betrayal?

That dream. Dunno how I would feel if I had a nightmare like that. I actually don't remember my own dreams in real life. Force users must have it tough. Sera seems special though. Another great chapter!

I'm very happy to see you returning to this. You left us at a dreadful spot!

One thing that has puzzled me from the first version is why Seraphine ever felt Vette and Quinn would be loyal to her. They were both coerced into being with her and she treats them both horridly. Deception and betrayal seem far more likely than loyalty under those conditions, and she normally sees only the worst in people.

Review for chapter 5:

Stunning. Absolutely stunning. The emotions, the Dark Council chamber, the clash between them. I was thoroughly mesmerized for the entire length of this chapter. I'm right there, suffering with Seraphine, feeling her raw emotions and her inner turmoil. There's so much to this character: so much depth and gritty, visceral feeling. The world of the Sith is a harsh and unforgiving place, and you've definitely captured that with all of this. It's no wonder most Sith are unbalanced!

I don't know what this Vortex is quite yet. I'm not sure what to make of it, but it definitely seems like trouble and it's definitely unique. The detail with which you described the battle was magnificent. I can only assume you've either done your homework on the combat of this universe or you've read many many books that have make you seem at home with writing about light saber fights. I swear, all that was missing was epic Sith music playing in the background.

And Quinn...oh poor poor Quinn. Knowing his personality, he must be devastated. Will he forgive Seraphine for what she had to do? Surely he'll understand that she had no choice. Then again, if he doesn't, the dynamic between them should be fascinating to read about. I like this so much more than the cannon "oh wow, you're cute, let's make out" (at least that's how I saw it). My gut tells me that these two have a long road ahead of them to rebuild any kind of trust and faith in one another.

And that ending! I truly felt the horror of the moment. I felt for Seraphine. She seems so young. Way too young to face these terrible situations. Not to mention, from the other chapters, I got a hint that she's dealing with some sort of serious trauma in her past. I noticed that she doesn't like to be touched and she's wary around certain things like fire. But she still presses forward! I could feel the power in her words when she made that speech. How old is she? Is that something we'll find out later?

I'm only dreading the moment when you run out of edited chapters and we have to wait several days (or possibly longer) until the next update. I still can't believe that I'm enjoying a story about Sith and the Empire so much when I'm a die-hard Jedi fanatic!

I had forgotten just how much I enjoyed this fic. I can't wait to see where you go with these changes!

I'll begin this review by saying that I typically don't ever review on websites like this. The only place I actually do leave casual comments is WDC, a writing website where there are entire groups and forums dedicated to people who review for a living. I do this because my reviews are lengthy, detailed, blunt, and are typically much more than flat praise and encouragement. I also review stories and novels as part of a side job, and have been doing it for over a decade.

That stated, I wanted you to know that me commenting at all is highly unusual and means that you've really caught my attention. This is one of the best stories I've read in this fandom. I'm comfortable saying that, and even though it's only my personal opinion, you should know that I've read many over the years.

Onwards: Review for chapters 1 and 2

I played through the Sith Warrior story long ago when the game was first released. During that playthrough, I experienced almost no enjoyment from the cannon and, in fact, found it to be poorly handled and full of cliche'd and dogmatic standards that held little to no appeal for me. The romances were boring and dry, the plot was mediocre at best, and the entire endeavor seemed to rely on the hype of what the Sith Warrior was supposed to be. After suffering through the lackluster writing and rather shallow characters (quite unusual for Bioware!) of several other class story lines, I had no desire to replay them or view them again. I stuck with RP characters and original stories.

Somewhere along the line, I decided to leave my nest of comfort in my guild's RP websites and communities to come and see what stories were available for reading here on FFnet. Yours was one of the few that I read all the way through until the last available chapter, and it made a lasting impression. I was dejected when I saw that you weren't updating it and then thoroughly excited when an email arrived in my mailbox saying that you were working on this once more.

You've done with this story what I wished over and over again that Bioware would have done. You've taken what is, in my personal opinion, a mediocre and run-of-the-mill plot and turned it on its head. In "The Amaranthine Wrath", you have provided us with an intense, unique, and fascinating protagonist who is believable and intriguing while building a world around her that is vivid, colorful, and mysterious. She feels like a Sith should feel: proud, emotional, strong, and powerful. At the same time, we see that she isn't perfect. She's fallible and shows brief glimpses of weakness. This makes her real to me as a reader.

Right from the start, the story pulled me into its world and didn't let go even after the end of the chapters. I can feel and see everything, almost like I'm watching a movie. The first-person perspective threw me off at first. I typically avoid reading first person stories because in fandoms, they generally escalate into fancy self-insertion fantasies, but the first person POV in this case feels natural and appropriate. It gives us an intimate look at Seraphine's mind while still doing a wonderful job at characterizing the other players in the game.

Quinn and Vette remain stunningly in character with minor improvements that I'm enjoying immensely (especially for Quinn). Though I don't remember too much about them in detail, I do recall that Quinn was very dry and boring as a character in the original universe. In your story, there seems to be much more to him, and I await eagerly to see how you will develop him in your work.

You have no problems with grammar or spelling. The typos are minimal to non-existent. Your descriptions, diction, and syntax are unique and flavorful. What else can I say? I'm having trouble really writing anything else because there is so little for me to criticize. I've read most of the existing Star Wars novels. From my personal experience, most of them are written from third person point of view. That, in my opinion, is the only thing that sets them apart from your writing. Honestly, if someone was to have given me this and told me that it was an excerpt from a novel, I wouldn't have had a doubt in my mind.

My favorite parts about these two chapters were Seraphine's fight with the acolyte in her room and her dialogue with Quinn in the jails. Both are superbly written. The fight was action-packed and intense. The conversation in the jails was quieter in comparison, but subtly beautiful as well, especially when she revealed her name at the very end.

Wonderful job! I will be continuing on to re-read the other chapters and will try to leave detailed reviews for those as well. Meanwhile, keep writing and charge forth. I await the next installments with impatience!
