I didn't review this! *slaps self*. I can see why you had trouble writing this chapter but well done on finishing it, especially with everything you have going on. This is a great story and I hope you won't forget all about your fanfic world now you're a budding academic. ;-)

Well, besides a delay, I think this is just fine. Glad to get a load of tenderness at the end. Oh, how I wish they would have just accepted the world as it was and stayed together. It would have been great. And congrats on Cambridge. That's pretty awesome!

Great chapter, I really hope they work it out. As painful it is to read them falling apart it's completely true to the characters and how they would both react, you've written it so well. Hope your results were what you were hoping for, can't wait for the next chapter x

Yes for Gene staying like he should have! It would be more in character for him to run away, maybe...Hmm. I don't care, I love that he stayed. Great to get the truth out in the open! :)

I can absolutely envision this scene playing out between them - the fury, the brokenness, the way Gene shifts away from calling Alex by his nickname for her when the stakes are so high.

The one thing I can't hear in Gene's voice is that "Alex, please." I have heard Sam Tyler beg but can't recall Gene doing the same, at least right now.

The conclusion was very fine, though, with Gene's refusal to leave and determination to be with Alex, one way or another. I need not add that it is a tremendous relief that Keats has not been able to split them up, which of course had to be his objective all along.

Aww poor Alex.. :-(.. Superb chapter E! Can't wait for next chapter and good luck with results! :-)

Oh dear! It's all too much but at the very least, Gene stayed with her and didn't stalk off in a huff. As always, I'm glad to see this and, even though I read it through my fingers to shield me from the angst, I loved it. :-)
