This heartbreaking. Absolutely heartbreaking. Sweet, gentle, kind and loving Anna who has never taken a day off despite five miscarriages...oh my heart my poor sweet Anna. John telling Mrs Hughes about how she believes the next will be the one to live full out BROKE MY HEART. I'd really like to see how they cope with this.

Wow, so many feels with this one and such a sad and real story. I liked how it was from Mrs. Hughes perspective and yet their emotions came through so clearly. I hope this has a happy ending down the line.

Oh this is so heartbreaking, and such a realistic way to explain their lack of having a baby yet. Breaks my heart to think of Anna - so stoic and brave - going to work after each loss, not taking the day off ill and not telling a soul.

This would have made a better storyline that what we got in season 4, but you are cruel, because you wrote it as a one shot. :) This was wonderful and I am glad to see you back. I think you are a great storyteller and miss your writing. I hope this means we might read more of your works in the near future...

This is so heartbreaking but such lovely writing. Poor Anna and Bates. I hope this means that you might have more time for your great fics, but if not, we understand.

Complete? No. Surely the next chapter is about Anna delivering a healthy baby and then another one and then more. Right? I hate to think that they won't eventually have a baby, they've been through so much. That said, this was well written and heartbreaking. Poor Anna.

I hope you continue exploring this! I really do think infertility or Bates no longer being able to manage working would have been much better themes for S4. Way back in S2, they both seemed to like the idea of starting a family. It seems so odd that the show has never addressed that these two people passionately in love have not had a child despite the number of years passed. They are working class and would not be able to afford specialists (who probably could not tell them anything, anyway). It also would have allowed the show to explore things like the possibility of adopting, orphan care of the time period, or even what being childless would mean for Anna when she presumably outlives John. I hope you continue.

Oh my gosh, this can't be it. I need more of this story and to hear how they deal with this struggle. I mean I respect your choice if you don't have time, but please add more if you can.

Oh nooooooo.. Please don't let this be a one off. You did an excellent job with a difficult subject. I totally understand Anna's dilemma as my own mom went through the same thing.. Hence, I'm an only child. She went through a lot of medical procedures until she found one that worked... Sure hope that something like that might lie in Anna and Bates future.
