Hello, Im sueing for emotional damages. this fic was so good and painful oh my god, and the rats were giving me serious pit and the pendulum vibes, spooooky. And Clive, poor soul Clive, gone too soon, he will be missed. RIP.

This is the most heartbreakingly beautiful depictition of Merlin and Arthur in the aftermath of a reveal I’ve ever read. You capture them both perfectly and your writing really expressed the trauma Merlin went through and it’s lasting effects. I especially loved the scene when Arthur tried to bully his way into speaking with Merlin despite all the obvious signs that Merlin wasn’t ready. It was so realistic and such an accurate insight into Arthur’s personality.

I love that things weren’t suddenly ok just because Arthur apologised. It’s never that simple and even someone as mentally strong as Merlin is needs time to recover from such deep trauma and betrayal inflicted by someone he trusted. It’s always bothered me somewhat how quickly many fics have Merlin simply getting over a really traumatic experience and just being ok with Arthur even if he caused it. It always feels like Arthur just gets away with tormenting Merlin. Therefore it was so satisfying to read that Merlin was still bitter and angry even after Arthur’s contrition because of course he would be! I love that Arthur gets to see that his actions have very real and lasting consequences that can’t be fixed with a simple ‘sorry’.
