I prefer your version to the show's. Perhaps the writers felt the odds were so against Iolaus it would be useless for him to try, or only Hercules should do the really big acts of heroism. I disagree. I enjoyed the story, and the way you portrayed both Iolaus and Gabrielle...very bittersweet.

Every time I watch this episode I wish that Herc would be out of that portal before the point of the crucifixion so that Gabrielle does not have to suffer. Though such a scene could have been included in the show. I mean this was Iolaus' time to shine so why not have one more act of bravery?

Unfortunately, there is a downside to Iolaus' daring rescue of Gabrielle. Now getting into Corinth will be much harder since Xena's guards will be looking for him. And getting Hercules might still be his best bet since he's probably the only person who even has a chance of defeating Xena.

This Gabrielle must have had some very bad experiences with men. Xena was not there to rescue her village so there's no telling what happened to her. Just by the way she is interacting with Iolaus, it's doubtful that she has ever met anyone who could be deemed as a nice guy or a gentleman. Though there is always a chance that she genuinely likes Iolaus. He's always struck me as a little bit of a ladies man to begin with.

I wonder if the events in Armageddon Now 2 count as Xena (the real one) hurting/killing Gabrielle (the real one). This timeline was brought up due to the happenings of their rift period.

Great Job on the story! I love Gabrielle and Iolaus together! I wish there were more stories with them as the couple out there as well! Good job!

I would like to start by saying I definetely agree that it wasn't right for Iolaus to just stand by in the actual show. I've read quite a few fanfictions with alternate scenes, including this one, but a lot of them aren't just alternate scenes. They are also alternate shows. I guess I would have to say I like to stay as true to a show as possible. So, what I'm getting at is that I think you did a good job with that and I would be interesting in reading the sequel. Well, I just wanted to say I liked it and good job. Keep on writing.
