Reviews for The End is the Beginning is the End: The Quarter Quell
Paul chapter 6 . 10/12/2017
At the beginning of this chapter, Ronan feels that no matter what else, two will endure. Wonder if he'll still believe that after the rebels took it and sip many of its citizens joined the rebellion.
Also, this chapter gives a little extra insight on just ow many victors two has. Ronan's refers to coaching his 'young mentore' through the thirties ,signifying at least two, adding that they went on to get three more in the forties. Odin was one from the thirties, and it's likely that adessa was to, unless she won i the twenties, as her games are considered memeorsble but not necessarily noble. Hera could have been a third, although it's never stated exactly when she won, to the best of my knowledge. She hasn't really been mentioned that often as coming from one of twos three noblest victories, as ronna calls them. that still leaves either two to four, depending on whether hers won in the forties or earlier and whether Ronan had two young mentors or threee for thirties. unless one or more died before the quell, I hope to see them introduced shortly In a district upside down. P.S. You mention an older victor named caius on your forum at one point but I can't find any other mention of him anywhere I've looked
Paul chapter 6 . 9/14/2017
Hope one day when you have the time you have a oneshot or maybe even a full length story showing Ronan's first meeting with snow and how he felt about being given poisoned sweets and subjected to the mans vileness when both were new to him. Maybe with flashbacks to his meetings with snows predecessors and their attitudes. Also be nice if adessa and/or Nero were included at the end, maybe talk over how it went with him when he gets home and get an edited version of the truth.
Paul chapter 6 . 8/10/2017
Ronan mnetion svolunteers from two started as misfits and criminals. Not sure whether that's supposed to mean the ones before or after him, but either way, Hope one who was like that that and won (if any) is still alive and appears in a district upside down, maybe as an odd man out in the village
Paul chapter 2 . 8/8/2017
This chapter refers to finnick and annie as fours youngest, most attractive victors. Guess that rules out the Victor of the sixty-ninth being from four, potential retcon aside.
Paul chapter 4 . 7/18/2017
Like Brutus not holding a grudge against Peeta for letting cato get mauled when their really wasn't anything he could do, even if he'd wanted to.
Paul chapter 5 . 3/26/2017
Looking at Brutus view mags allying with 12 as just strategy, it would be really cool if in a district upside down he finally realizes what that was about and maybe considers the ramifications of mags being a rebel and what it might mean about her and/or the state of the country she rebelled against.
Also, while it's probably intentional, enobaria seriously creeps me out, in this chapter more than some (Although not all) of her other appearences and if you plan on killing any character who survivors in cannon for a district upside down, maybe have it be her, in a heroic sacrifice(say Saving someone like Nero, callista, or Claudius) or otherwise. That's probably wron of me to hope that, on one level or another, but that's how I feel right now.
Hybrid-Cookie376 chapter 9 . 11/2/2016
(Sorry if this doesn't make much sense, I'm scribbling things down as I go)

This was so great. I never thought much about District 2 before reading your stories, but you make me really like them, especially Brutus. I love reading behind all the 'behind the scenes' of The Hunger Games and the mentors. I really liked their strategy on who was going to volunteer for Quarter Quell.

I love everyone's relationships in District. The complicated relationships between Victor and Mentor, and the rivalries between mentors that have to go up against each other. I love Brutus and Lyme in particular who have such a strong friendship, and I like the strange relationship between Nero and Enobaria.

"Four's stylists have dressed Finnick Odair in nothing but knots of rope,
which, given what gets done to that boy, makes Brutus' vision darken". - ouch

I love how you write Mags and Brutus' relationship, 'The Mountain and the Sea' is probably one of my favourite fics ever, and I loved seeing more reactions here

I love Brutus' musings on Peeta as well, about what a good mentor he is

"(Katniss) swings swords with an unenthusiastic Enobaria" - hee, that made me laugh for some reason.

"They want to cast the Careers as villains in their little story, then a villain he'll be." - Oh Brutus

I love Lyme so much. The scene between herself and Brutus and the 'fight' was rough. The relationship between Claudius and Lyme is very interesting. I did like "Suicidal Victor right now, wake up and do your mentorly duty." and him helping her. Also "Not my fault!"

Brutus' musings about his previous victors and the image of how they would all greet him when he returns was nice and sweet.

I really liked reading about their version of the Quarter Quell and what was happening with them, and the shows that they put on. I like how you've written Cashmere and Gloss.

Honestly, I'd be kind of interested in your diagrams of where each tribute has to be based on what happens in the narrative.

Wow, that got long. Just wanted to say how amazing this was, I loved seeing canon events through different POVs, and I love all your original characters, and the expansion of those smaller characters from the books who never got much 'screentime.'
Paul chapter 6 . 10/21/2016
Forgot to add in a possible story for lumina. It wouldn't even have to be one with her as the central character, just a story narrated by Ronan, maybe getting his first Victor, talking to lumina and some of his generations other mentors, with perhaps some hints about whether the games and the districts are better off under the current president, if only a little. Something before Snow, in other words (although maybe with a different change of power that their talking about as I recall it being said somewhere that Roman has outlasted multiple presidents).
Paul chapter 6 . 10/21/2016
Something that just hit me, All of the outer district victors to appear or be mentioned in this chapter have a lot of potential in them for their own stories; eibhilin said descent from a cocky genius to a mentally unstable woman due to some kind of assault, Phillips finding the strength to brave the arena knowing that his life lies in the hands of an unreliable junkie, Diana's internal turmoil over not volunteering for Cecelia, maybe interposed with flashbacks to their respective games (also be interesting to see if she justified it due to the rescue plan, assuming she was in on it), how Cora and Burt ended up married (were they a couple before one or both were reaped or was it both being victors that brought them together) maybe Angus in his games or trying to navigate the world afterwards. He's an interesting character, the only named mentor here besides haymitch not confirmed to have voted to allow the games continue, and a man who typically says something somewhat intelligent in his (few) speaking appearances that still manages to miss a point of one kind or another that somehow undermines him.
Elwaith chapter 5 . 7/13/2015
Oh boo hoo hoo for Enobaria, and Brutus. They're far more upset about Finnick and Mags rejecting the alliance and both Katniss and Peeta getting twelves than having to, I don't know, kill their own fellow Victors. The world's smallest violin is playing for them.
Elwaith chapter 2 . 7/13/2015
Brutus is so brainwashed! He thinks the rebellion is the thing that's wrong in Panem, not the Hunger Games or the bastard President Snow. He lived through a slaughter and loves the Capitol who forced him into it, who caused his trauma. He was so close to connecting the dots but then he turned his back on seeing that reality.
Paul chapter 6 . 7/1/2015
Truly one of the most amazing scenes in hunger games cannon. I really like the victors you created. I fell like writing for hours about your district 2 stories but unfortunately have chores to do. Like how you had Claudius leave with Lyme.
melliemoo chapter 9 . 7/30/2014
This was great. I am so glad there will be more.
Guest chapter 8 . 7/28/2014
I like seeing the arena from this viewpoint.
TheAlabasterPhoenyx chapter 9 . 7/30/2014
Beautiful. I love how you give scenes from all angles - except that of the rebellion/those who are actually informed. It gives a wonderful picture of all the sides of the problem...and furthers the painting you have of district two to amazing detail. Even when you're not describing the district and it's customs and its people, the way the narrative speaks of and looks at it's conflict gives us characterization of Two. Everyone is trying their hardest to survive and do what will be right for their District and their people, no matter where they are in the Games situation.
Thank you for writing!
