This was absolutely beautiful. So well written with brilliant characterisation.

Cora's naivety and Robert's inability to convey himself whenever emotions were heightened were so very believable. I loved your interpretation of each of the characters, especially Violet's underlying reasoning for objecting to the marriage.

Your writing's wonderful and would fit perfectly alongside the novels in a bookstore. I hope you're still writing, be it fandom focused or otherwise, and we'll have an opportunity to read more of your work in the future. In the meantime I'll be working my way through the rest of your fics!

Okay so I finally got around to reading this and let me say this madamn: WHY MUST YOU ALWAYS HURT ME? I think for 98% of this story I just wanted to sob. It was beautiful and heartbreaking throughout. I do so love your style and appreciate this wonderful story even though I felt like sobbing for most of it. Always a joy dear.

Goodness, I have been trying to think of what to say in this final review of this beautiful story for days now. You have created an entire world that feels both authentic to these characters and something entirely of your own devising, too. It's a rare talent, and I feel so lucky to have been able to step inside this story for so long!

I do believe it was Virginia Woolf who once posed the question: "How can we combine the old words in new orders so that they survive, so that they create beauty, so that they tell the truth?" You, my dear friend, have answered such a question. Please, please continue to write beautiful words. You are a wonderful talent, and this story is but one example of that. :)

I wish I had the actual words to describe not only this chapter but this whole story. I find they are all pretty lame because this was such a beautiful, sensitive, insightful study of two characters. This story has made me love them more. Your words were expertly crafted and your characterizations were spot on.

Oh, squeeeeeeee! I've finally been able to read the culminating chapter of this glorious masterpiece! Now, where do I begin to praise this wonderful work? I loved the bit where Carson (I mean Charles) reassures Robert that the heirloom ring is just right. I can totally hear him say in that beautiful baritone, "If I may say so, my lord..." I loved it that Violet comes to a seeming acceptance of the whole situation, making a joke that at least they'd have attractive photographs, and we also see a bit of her wisdom coming through that we see so much of in her character in her later years: "'The weather will do as it pleases, regardless of one's attempts at predicting it ... The key, my boy, is to accept the day, whatever it may bring. The snow of an English winter . . . " Her shoulders fell with a breath. "Or the rain of an English summer.'" Just brilliant writing! And the vivid descriptions you created throughout made it seem as if I was actually watching the wedding scene instead of reading it. But I guess my absolute favorite passages are: "...the tender pencil stroke of her name echoing around in her mind, as if he had whispered the words to her and not only dogeared a page. It didn't matter that he hadn't said them; somehow Cora knew him, understood him, and what he'd done meant more to her than any declaration of love. It was a promise." Stunningly brilliant! And then, "Where he once worried that these words would feel hollow, that they'd feel empty and sinful as he said them to her, Cora looking up at him with her lovely, lovely face...they...they didn't...They felt anything but hollow. 'To love and to cherish. Till death do us part.'" Gah! I'm dead! How perfect an ending! Which, of course, is only the beginning for them. And for us! Please don't ever stop writing Cobert stories!

Having read the update and then promptly rereading the entire story all within a day, I think I can safely say that this may be one of my favourite stories ever. The writing is absolutely exquisite, and I cannot thank you enough for all the time and energy you have put into this fabulous creation, and for sharing it with the world.

I love the contrast of Robert's doubt at the beginning with the scene that follows - Cora's burgeoning happiness (and I do like that we're moving into the happiness phase, with her, as it flows nicely with the canon track we know). And that lovely scene between RObert and his parents - possibly one of my favorites out of this story (which is saying something) - it really does capture the whole theme so nicely and I of course love Violet's practicality in that "at least we'll have some good photos", haha.

That analogy of Cora to the church and the swan is perfect. My thoughts exactly. (Oh and Landry is cute! I love that we got a couple of little moments between them.) It's great to see that Cora at least has found some resolution against her father's words at the end, there. I was wondering how that would round up.

Greatly appreciate that the very end POV is Robert's. This has very much been a Cora story, which is wonderful, but I think it needed to be his POV at the end - coupled with his observation that she made everything around them brighter is fantastic, symbolically - she has become an English summer - and it speaks accurately of what she will be to him years from now. All in all, brava, dear, as always. What a wonderful and pleasing end to a labor of love - you should feel very accomplished and I'm so glad you shared this with us!

This was a really lovely ending, that highlighted all the moments of the big day. Thank you for such a wonderful read.
