I'm really glad that you gave Spock a pair of Vulcan friends in this story. Nearly all TOS fan fiction portrays Spock as alone and friendless until Jim Kirk came into his life, and I always think, "WE all love Spock, so why wouldn't he have found at least a handful of people to appreciate him throughout his life? EVERY person on Vulcan was an asshole? EVERY person at Starfleet Academy was xenophobic? EVERY person on the Enterprise during Chris Pike's tenure was a jerk? That seems ... rather improbable to me." Thanks for not going down this over-trodden path.

This gives me a tiny wee bit more sympathy for Sarek..but not much. He still was an ass. Can't use logic to explain being a moron about your kid's career choices.

This is a really fine fic. I can't imagine why it has gotten so little notice. Spock and Amanda are beautifully drawn and so believable. Sarek is - Sarek. A sequel of how Spock made out at the Academy would have been very interesting also. Thanks for a very good read.
