Honestly, I wanted to read more. You lost me at the self-insertion with "I was from Earth, the United States". I'm sorry. I will try to read more and construct a better review, but self-insertion is the worst way to formulate a story around anything.

You didn't use an actual name, which means anyone can be in the story; Good Job. Too bad it isn't finished I would have liked to see where this was going.
