I LOVE the idea for this story; the connection it evokes between Snape and Harry. My breath was bated all this chapter and last. That explosion and the way Snape immediately casts Protego to shield Harry at cost of his own life, then the way Harry saves Snape with his Flickering powers... oh, it was so well written! Can’t wait to see how this story unfolds!

I'm re-reading all the fanfics I've bookmarked previously, so I came across this one again - and I agree with Severus. Dumbledore should not have been merciful to Petunia.

Why can't he also talk to Sirius? Harry has said that he's like a parent to him and Harry needs that relationship as well. A support system is just that- a group of people that you care about, not just one person. And Sirius loves Harry in his own right as opposed to Snape who has treated him horribly for years and now feels a combination of guilt and pity. Not the kind of things Harry would respond best to. I loved Ron's reaction- he is most definitely your most in character reaction. Harry cries too much for it be a real depiction of how he would react and your Snape is far more compassionate than canon Snape could ever manage but Ron seems right to me.

Awesome you need to keep going

Oh, my God, this is awesome! It has swept me away totally! The high level of Angst, the sheer amount of emotional upheaval you manage to put into this story! I couldn't stop reading, and I have cried hard during the disclosure of Petunia's "weekly torture".

But there is also a fair amount of Comfort which makes it all bearable and which makes this story one of the best and emotionally most powerful fanfics I have ever read (and I have read thousands of HP stories during the last 10 years).

Your writing style, the flow of the sentences, and your choice of words have a lyrical quality which enhances the emotional impact on the readers (or at least, it did to me) and carries them away on this river of words.

And last but not least comes your creative interpretation of Necromancy and of what it entails. In all of the hundred of abused!Harry stories which I have read in the last 5 years no author has ever postulated that not only the body and the mind suffer from long-term effects of abuse/torture but that the magical core also is affected and "mutates" (besides of the suppression of magic altogether). And yet this is logical and should be obvious and widely spread in fandom.

Hoping against hope, I beg you: Please, come back to this story and make my day with an update. (And poor Harry and Severus need some more comfort, too.)

I desperately hope you continue this eventually! It is an absolutely superb work so far, and I just know my mind will be existing in this AU for days now. Wonderful piece. Just beautiful.

I'm sorry you haven't continued this story in the last year and a half. On the other hand, this isn't the worst place to leave off. Harry's safe from the Dursleys, Harry and Sev's relationship is on a firm footing, there's some hope for Harry's eyesight (even if it's not a lot), and Albus is finally overcome with remorse for his stupidity in leaving Harry with Petunia.

Are you going to continue this story? It's very good so far.
