DoctorDonna77 chapter 41 . 3/8/2019 Love your story. You have a great imagination. And i would like to compliment you on the great spelling and lack of grammatical mistakes. Even if I'm 4 years too late. I'm missing Percival though. And Elyan though not as much. |
PalyGirl chapter 32 . 1/26/2016 Chapter 32: This was the most uplifting chapter yet. Leon remembers and Fiona and Aithusa show real 'girl power' in action. My bad mood is almost completely forgotten. |
PalyGirl chapter 27 . 1/26/2016 Chapter 27 disappointed me in the Arthur/Gwen interaction. I first liked them as a couple after "Sweetest Dreams" when Gwen's kiss broke Arthur's enchantment. I thought you would do the same thing here - have Arthur's kiss break Gwen's enchantment. It almost did when his kiss on the cheek confused her. It would have shown they truly loved each other and that love was strong enough to overcoming even centuries-old dark magic. Ahh, but it's good that Merlin understood immediately and fixed the problem. |
PalyGirl chapter 23 . 1/26/2016 Chapter 23: Ahh, Queen Annis, a truly strong lady. It was smart of Arthur to leave his empire in the hands of a woman who knows how to run it. But even Camelot-Arthur knew to trust Annis. And Gwaine! I'm so happy that he's back - Strength, Courage and Magic are reunited and braving these new Perilous Lands together. |
PalyGirl chapter 19 . 1/26/2016 This is the chapter where I began to appreciate the modern Arthur/Gwen pairing. This life and time allows Gwen to express more of how she felt about the way Arthur treated her before their Camelot marriage. It also seems like a natural extension of the relationship they had in their past life after marriage, when they were more equal. Of course, both current Arthur and current Gwen are products of their time, with Arthur able to use a kitchen and Gwen comfortable managing people. |
PalyGirl chapter 9 . 1/25/2016 Chapter 9: Okay, again with Arthur questioning someone else's sexuality. It makes me wonder...just kidding! |
PalyGirl chapter 7 . 1/25/2016 This is my favorite chapter so far. The appearance of Aithusa, her improved health, the friendship she shares with Merlin and the support they've been able to give each other makes the pain of their long lives better. What good is immortality if it means hundred of years of being alone, watching people die around you and having no one who understands your pain? Ugh - I wouldn't want it. And good on you for incorporating her into the myth of the Loch Ness monster. I was in Scotland and Wales last September, which is when I got into the show. It is so exciting to have actually visited places from your story. Sadly, my Nessie stuffed doll is green and looks more like a dinosaur. I now know to look for a white dragon if I'm ever lucky enough to visit the UK again! |
PalyGirl chapter 5 . 1/25/2016 Hmm...I'm not sure I like that Arthur 'remembers' he's in love with Gwen. It's nice they decided to have a 'mature' relationship and only remain friends. Too bad it was a past memory and not a current, undeniable love that leads their relationship. But I understand there isn't really a better way to bring them together in the context of this story. Arthur's relationship with Gwen has always seemed so imbalanced, to me. He always had the power in their previous relationship: ending their relationship when his Uncle disapproved, banishing her after Lancelot without even considering what caused it (despite her support/understanding during the Vivian fiasco) and picking her back up when HE wanted it. I would like Gwen to be stronger this time around. Luckily, the modern setting allows her to have more control over her life. On to the next chapter! |
PalyGirl chapter 3 . 1/25/2016 I rushed through the next few chapters once I knew Morgana was in this story. Now I can reread with ease knowing how the story goes. I'm one of those people who feel she was pushed to be evil when Merlin poisoned her with hemlock. He used a different drug - with antidote! - when he had to kill Arthur to save Uther from the troll. Plus Morgana would have willingly taken even hemlock to save Arthur, Gwen and all of Camelot. She deserves a chance to be happy and supported. |
PalyGirl chapter 2 . 1/25/2016 Ha! Arthur wondering about Rhys and Will, while the rest of the world wonders about Arthur and Merlin. The prat! |
PalyGirl chapter 1 . 1/25/2016 I know I gave you a review for this whole story but I'm re-reading it. I had a rough week and need to something to lift my spirits. I won't review every chapter but I will note things I really liked and - I hope you don't mind - places that confused or disappointed me. Chapter 1: Of course, Arthur realizing he's THAT Arthur and taking the whole thing very well was wonderful. Rhys is a good modern, familiar name for Emmrys. But the best part was...Alice! |
Fireflyforever chapter 1 . 1/20/2016 I don't read many "future fics" but I'm glad I gave this one a try. I thought it would be good because I loved your other pieces - and I was right. You always sound so diffident about your writing skills in your author notes - you shouldn't be. I've been a little obsessed with fanfiction since watching the season 5 finale back in September - I'm trying to erase the sadness of the finale - without much success! I've read A LOT of stuff and you are up there with the best of the writers I've come across. I have had such a lot of pleasure from your stories so thank you for writing them. From a personal preference point of view (ooh, that's alliterative), I would have loved to have seen Wayne get his memory back and have the questing trio back together but I do understand why you made the decision to keep him in the dark in the context of your plot. Also, because I'm a sucker for the knights, I'd have loved more Leonard plus more than a mention of Elyan (and Percival - I love Percy!) but these are nit-picks because I thought this was a really cracking read! |
PalyGirl chapter 45 . 1/19/2016 Loved it! I especially liked the chapter "The Road to Camelot." Arthur saw the past landscape in his mind, Gwen felt a chill when she passed the site of her father's grave and knowing the long-ago Queen of Camelot was hundreds of feet below them really gave me a pang. I only started (and finished!) watching the Merlin episodes last fall. Series 5 left me very sad by the abrupt ending, hanging plot lines and Merlin's immortality. You touched on how the Golden Age of Camelot never truly happened and how much pain followed his death. This story had a much more hopeful ending, with (most) of the original characters together - or at least in contact with each other - and a future that may allow Arthur to live to middle age and Merlin to have the happy ending he so deserved. Thank you for writing this lovely story! |
wryter501 chapter 45 . 1/5/2016 oh, goodness, i didn't see that coming - trying to lure sigan into taking arthur's body! and, even knowing you were drawing on sigan's ep, you had my heart in my throat to see if it had worked, or if merlin would have to fight sigan out of arthur's body or something! whew! i'm okay that you left the situation with morgause ambiguous. she's sworn not to hurt arthur, and i think merlin can take her if she ever tries, and morgana won't listen to her for this lifetime, anyway... and hopefully drew will be cured and fall for a pretty nurse or something! ;) |
wryter501 chapter 44 . 1/5/2016 it's always been my opinion that morgause's interest in the relationship was purely selfish... she doesn't want the relationship b/c it will do /morgana/ any good, only herself and who she wants her sister to be... i don't suppose sigan could be aware of the legendary status/importance/power of 'king arthur and merlin the sorcerer', but surely mark cornwallis would know - is there much crossover between their consciousnesses? i'm really nervous for their confrontation, too, actually - and i'm not sure getting recognized by the receptionist is going to be helpful, either! |
