This is the fastest I've ever read a fanfiction story (2-3 hours). It was so good! I love how clever you were adding in the aspects from most of Amy's episodes. When I saw the title of the second to last chapter I could feel goosebumps, because I knew what was coming up. However you manipulated what happened in the show and made it even more heart breaking in your story.
Being able to relate to imaginery friends, I connected to Amy in a way I hadn't before and I'd love to thank you for doing that. This is defintely in my top five stories on this site! :)

You once again tell a story most vividly. The feelings going through the characters minds are apparent in quick, deft strokes. Your ability melge a new story to the outlines of one that might be already familiar to the reader is a true talent... forgive me, but I find this alternate universe truly depressing. You've written it so well ...it hurts.

I'm not sure if this portrayal of mental institutions is meant to be accurate, but two things:

If Amy was best friends with Mels, she almost certainly would have mentioned her to the Doctor at least once, and he would have proved her wrong. So no sudden disillusionments. Especially for patients with hallucinogenic disorders, because they'd ask her constantly about her social abilities and the types of people she's drawn to.

They wouldn't take her to 'solitary confinement' without having her and a legal guardian sign their mutual consent. What you probably mean is what we good ol' former inmates refer to as 'The Safe Room' or 'The Control Room' where she would be kept for however long it takes to calm her down up to 72 hours. She would be under surveillance at all times.

As a final note, it might be a good point to add the nightstaff in as potential creatures or beasts of some sort. They patrol every hour to observe sleep patterns.

But I do LOVE your writing style :) A lot. And what a beautiful concept, too. I like writing about these sorts of things.
