of all the things to claim plot armor on in Naruto I think this one was one of the farthest down on the list. This particular fight honestly was one of the least so. Basically if you accept the premise that the sharingan can predict attacks before they happen and that training harshly for a month could give Sasuke even a semblance of Lee's hard earned but no less attainable speed... It was a fairly balanced fight. Also fact of the matter is that Sasuke actually couldn't beat Gaara. Had Naruto not shown up to save him Sasuke would have lost out in the forest.

Sorry, rambling. Mostly cause I really like the idea of a story taking away blatant plot armor and displaying what would have happened but in this instance I don't buy that it was actually a case of plot armor. As such I felt the need to explain my thoughts on it since I'm your typical Internet crawler who thinks they know everything.

I never got the whole 'friendship' thing between Sasuke and Naruto. If it happens, it comes totally out of nowhere. Maybe it's one sided? Like, Naruto is such a complete retard that he thinks that being an asshole is Sasuke's way of being friendly.

Ever notice the similarity between how Naruto looks at the start of the manga and the faces of people with Down's Syndrome? Maybe we're all evil for laughing at him, and his fangirls are all just amazed how he's overcome the additional obstacles of legitimate mental retardation.
