I think it would have been a cool twist if one of them was actually dead and just laying with their lover to remember what it felt like to be held, loved.

That's different...I like! A unique take on jade's persona, and her thought process. I like how she's still snarky, even in her mind, and how we get a look into the reason she is the way she is. Although, I'm a little confused. Are she and Tori dating, or just fuck buddies? Some of your wording had me thinking they were dating, then you wrote
rejection hurts' and the little schpeal after that made me think they're just friends with benefits. Meh...it's apparent that Jade has a difficult time trusting though, but she's working up the nerve I think. Good job!
