This is so excellent on so many levels. This era of SPN canon is so wrenching (Bobby's death, the brothers' increasing exhaustion and isolation, Hallucifer and Frank and all the rest we all know...) and you crank the feels up to 11. ;)

Tagging along with Sam's hazy stream of consciousness is simultaneously suspenseful and hilarious, and his intuition regarding Dean is so touching. Thanks for sharing!

This is really great! I like that they got their info from Krissy and could follow up on the hunt knowing that they had good and reliable information. Even if they had to kind of make up their plans as they went pretty quickly because there wasn't enough time to figure out how to stop things before they'd started. And poor Sam was getting so beat up by that elemental while Dean was realizing that Walter-Gene was actually killing off his family and ugh. You wrapped it up so well at the end. But this was a rough one to happen right after Bobby...

This was brilliant! It always hurts to read about the boys in season 7 - they're both just so broken it just breaks my heart! A superb case for them, and I love that the task of caring for Sam makes Dean feel a teensy bit more like himself.

What a sweet and well written story! It was delightful to read a case fic that did not drag on and on. You kept a good pace without cutting corners -and seriously, I HEARD that storm! Great description-I even grasped Sam's pain. It was cute how the boys kept confusing Gene's-Walter's name. that was funny. My fave part: "His brother needed action he could understand, love he could accept, and, most of all, to be needed. For better or worse, that was how Dean healed.
That's a hammer on the nail! You understand something the writers in Season 7 did not grasp about the character. (well, they kinda missed the boat on both boys)

Wonderful story. You definitely are the queen of H/C! The boys separating is never a good idea and this time it was Sam that took the brunt of the decision. Loved how you kept up with the Walter/Gene banter - it added a bit of old-fashioned levity to the story. It was an interesting hunt, but I really liked how you tied Walter's (Gene's) deliberate killing of his entire extended family, to Sam and Dean's recent loss of their last family member and how that loss affected them in comparison. Great stuff!

Great story! I love confused, not all there Sam. :) I especially liked his opinion of the pinto while mixed up and realizing that it was him not necessarily the impala that had Dean homing abilities.

So sweet! It's a nice reprieve from all the hurt-no-comfort thing going on in current season. I wish the brothers are brothers again like in this fic. Thanks as always for the wonderful fic!
