This is one of the best Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. proses that I've read on . I think you captured May and Skye to a t. You were able to poetically capture so many different perspectives in this with a rare use of well chosen diction and excellent plot weaving that I've rarely encountered on this site. I love that you don't shy away from just how broken May is and how much Bahrain has damaged her and how Skye has really been an opportunity for her to heal, the little girl she could save. This was so, so well done. Very sophisticated and well written. I enjoyed it immensely. I hope you write more like this. Bravo.

I don't think I have the words to explain how much I love this. (This may not make sense!) This connection between them - I want this on the show. More than Coulson's comments about how alike they were at some point.

Because I think you've shown this here. The candles are an astonishing detail and the pure number of them just hurts, especially as it seems less May's way of memorialising them and more her way of punishing herself (or maybe some balance of the two). The way you've written the relationship between the two is gorgeous, with Skye learning to understand. And then in the end, when it comes full circle.
