Aside from a few touching moments (awe, can’t help ourselves with a baby right?), I’m still trying to understand why I should care about these characters. What does happen here worth hoping on board for? I should be excited about what is going to happen next…but I’m waiting.
I think this dialogue has some rhythm to it, but seems to have a way of coming off a little on the weak side.
Now with recent events with some pit bulls in the news regarding unwarranted surprise attacks with smaller children in the family believing they’re just playing with the family pet, then…off to the hospital with a shit load of stiches if the child is lucky enough to live through it! Of course, the pit bull get put down.
NOW THAT will grab a reader’s attention!
So, what happens next? I yearn to read what happens next. ; )

carol can make him smile and so can the girls

they just are great together

it is nice to think about them having some happiness together.
