even years after i first read this, i love it to bits. it's so raw and human and ugly and beautiful all at the same time. the way you really dig into danny's issues both with spectra and how it comes out in conversation hurts so much but i love it. the detail that i always end up fixating on is how jack removes his gloves to hold danny. i can only remember one or two times in the cartoon that we see him without his gloves on and it just makes the moment that much more powerful. this fic is one of my favorites and i can see myself coming back to read it for a long time

Spectra’s voice... this was so in character that I could HEAR her voice as I read the dialogue. Outstanding
