I so love this. This discussion was a glaring gap in the episode, IMO. Your take on it-a visible disclosure followed by a quick, quiet talk without excess drama- is perfect for the situation and characters. It explains well how they got from the awkwardness of TEH to the comfortable closeness of TSo3. Well done!

I must admit, the only real issue I have with The Empty Hearse is John attacking Sherlock after we saw him being tortured (yes, he didn't know, but did they have to play it for laughs? No offense intended). This story clears that up very nicely, thank you!

Yes, I would have loved to see a scene like this, because I just can't see John NOT realising that there's been difficult times for his best friend and how this changed Sherlock.
