I think you capture Tom’s personality beautifully here. Actually it’s hilarious in places which is tricky to write well so bravo to you!

I'm on board with everyone else here:
The end of chapter 3 was amazingly had-to-be-shares funny.
It was really interesting to see Tom in those moments. Loved how he skirted the awkwardness but really still was him.
And finally a cure which makes sense.

This story gave me such a laugh and was definitely a new and unique way of retelling that storyline! Tom's dry and sarcastic view of the events had me chuckling throughout most of the story. I loved his "if it's him or that monkey… " or "If this is a three man tent, it must've been designed by a Ferengi". Your idea for the cure of their illness took me by surprise and I found it much more believable than the original plot!

The comedy element in this story was fantastic, I laughed out loud several times & I really feel you captured Tom's character well in this time period of the show, it felt truly in character. Loved the whispers of J/C throughout the story too, Tom really is an enjoyable observer of their relationship. Thanks for sharing this delightful story!

Tom is hysterical, and surprisingly sweet. The evolution of his character was handled really well on the series, and you've handled it well, here, too. He goes from a self-centered smartass to a fairly likeable guy, even if he is still irreverent.
